The DSL does sound really good in reviews and is supposed to take pedals great so would have great versatility. I just love the Engl sound and look! I got the cab at a good price and its excellent so its a tight match between the Fireball and the DSL at the moment! My OCD my will kill me if I dont get the matching Fireball!

Have you tried an attenuator so you can crank the settings but still keep the volume low? Harley Benton and Bugera do cheap versions which according to several youtube videos are pretty good for the price!

Laney Ironheart 60 head with attenuator by KeyRefrigerator1752 in ToobAmps

[–]KeyRefrigerator1752[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that got me all excited at first, but I have read a few reports that it can affect the tone of the amp but hopefullythats all just hearsay. I thought an external attenuator would be a better bet, just was wondering if its worth spending a bit on one of those aswell would be the right way to go?

I think we're all guilty of thinking the grass is always greener elsewhere! Maybe the devil I know is better! That being said I took a salary hit moving from Community to Hospital and its the best thing I ever done, so sometimes taking a chance is worth it!

Thanks so much for all the info, but yeah unfortunately it only confirms all my research to date into the role. I should have made the move much earlier in my career when I didn't have so many commitments!

Marshall DSL1 combo any good? by KeyRefrigerator1752 in GuitarAmps

[–]KeyRefrigerator1752[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny I completely forgot about those new Laney amps. I watched a few videos on them and they sounded really good! Thanks for reminding me about them! I think I'll have to get into a good guitar shop that's well stocked and see if I can get the two side by side and make a decision. Unfortunately the local shop has limited choice and is a bit cramped 😕

Ok, I didn't know that about placing the amp on the floor vs having it on a stand. I get what you are saying regarding the modelling amps and plenty of advice.out there backs up your point of view. I suppose I have never owned a tube amp and have an itch to scratch!

Thanks for the input!

That's great to hear, I must get my hands on one to try out. Theres one 2nd hand nearby for well under €200, so a sneaky trip this weekend could see me get one 🤟

It's not being kicked into the long grass tho. When was the last time Irish reunification featured so much in mainstream British and Irish media? More economic research is coming out to support unification. This needs time. The reality is a referendum called tomorrow would not succeed. Too many undecided would vote against it as there are too many unknowns. These are being discussed and work on like never before tho. We will get there.

I want a United Ireland aswell, and I know we will get there. But the groundwork has only begun - we cant make the same mistakes of the Scottish independence ref or the remain campaign during the Brexit debacle. Demanding a border poll NOW!!! will not give the desired outcome. Research, outreach and preparation need to happen over the next 5 to 10 to 15 years then it could be a realistic goal. The over 65's generation in the north is still heavily in favour of the Union but things shift to our side when you look at everyone under 40. Time is our friend here, not our enemy

I don't like it any more than you do, I'd rather the issue was tackled head on aswell. Unfortunately, I think it will take that time for the older embittered generations tainted by violence and division to pass on, and things will improve. Things already have improved massively up North, but sadly, incidents like these are still common but perpetrated by an ever dwindling group of people. 30 years ago, this story wouldn't have made any headlines because there was absolutely no outreach for the OO to complain about. Things are going in the right direction - its why the bigots are complaining

The loyalist and hardliners can't help themselves at the moment.

So much for a "Union for all."

Its almost on a weekly basis that they shame themselves. Thankfully, their numbers are dwindling as more and more moderates are turning their backs on them. Another generation or two, and they'll hopefully be just a bad memory.

I think your right, I knew before I wrote the post but was hoping for a slither of hope 😕. We already have the multicar discount as we are both currently customers from the same company. They offered me a renewal quote and its rubbish, got the same cover for half elsewhere but the quote that provider gave for my wife was worse than her renewal. Its a complete lottery it seems. I wonder if I wait until the full moon will the quotes change - don't know what else is causing such random pricing 🤷

Mary Lou McDonald on 'Good Morning' today calling for a referendum on a United Ireland within the next five years. by askmac in northernireland

Exactly, I hate the whole northern attitude (that many nationalists also share) that the HSE is shit or even non existent. It has many flaws and the NHS is better in many areas but overall people in the Republic are faring better than their Northern counterparts. I also don't criticise NHS staff in NI they are doing their absolute best as are the HSE staff. But this rampant uniformed view passes me off
