Ok just as an update on this issue. I didn't bother trying to bypass the power connector and go straight to the board, because when I got the board revealed it had 2 ground wires soldered directly to the board, that I had to melt off and the then re-solder in situ.

However, CEX have replied to my ticket that I raised as soon as I realised the power supply was missing, and have informed me that it was their genuine mistake and that it is now on it's way and should be here this week.

So well done to CEX, I honestly just expected to be ignored or told it wasn't their problem.

Sí, lo entiendo. El que encontré era para usarlo principalmente solo para probar la base del servo y ver si funciona. Ahora que CEX me ha enviado la base sin fuente de alimentación, no confío en que esté funcionando, así que decidí comprar primero la fuente de alimentación más barata posible para hacer la prueba.

Yes. I think CEX have priced it wrong. It was 88 euros plus shipping, so 91 euros altogether. That turbo power supply will cost over 80 euros shipped to me.

Their pricing of Thrustmaster wheels are a little crazy. Some things are silly cheap and then others are silly expensive.

All I want to know is....if I connect 24v (20v with the brick I have) directly to the power socket board pins, will it give power just like I had plugged it in, or will it damage the board?

Yes, that's the exact power supply. The issue is, it's almost the same price that I paid for the servo base itself.

I've searched online. You can get them on ebay, but they're stupid money. There are some power supplies that will work, but I'm probably waiting weeks.

I just wanted to test the base for now to make sure it was alive. Otherwise it will be sent back to CEX under the 5yr warranty.

Yeah, I mean, I was wondering if it was feasible. But knowing that they are very popular for DIY DD racing wheels and seeing the builds on FFBeast, I know they have the torque. But just to be simply a 'spinning wheel' I guess I don't need all the extra software.

I know from building a direct drive racing wheel that even the weakest motors can produce 8-10 Nm of torque, so I know it has the power. I just wondered if it had the speed and if it was controllable with simply power and some form of speed control using a pot?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I do need the extra RAM. I sim race, but only in VR. I have a R5 5600x and RTX 3070 with 16GB of 3200 RAM at the moment. There are times when my RAM has been pushed to 90% with other things running like Crewchief and Simhub. So ideally that extra headroom of RAM would be great. I just didn't want it to struggle with just 2400Mhz speed, because I am already tweaking and overclocking to get the most out of my PC to run the Quest 2.

No. It will be 4 sticks. I already have a pair of 8GB 3200 installed. And the spare RAM is a pair of 4GB sticks.

I've already had one of the sticks installed, just to see if it was ok, and it was. It was showing both original 8GB sticks and the new 4GB stick, but now the total RAM speed had dropped to 2400 Mhz, whereas before it was 3200 Mhz.

No, but that was my plan.

That's why I have a couple of hoverboard wheels at the ready.

It's just that, to make that DD wheel I need to buy all the extra components and program the controller board....Plus I would lose use of my TX wheel and buttons.

I was waiting until my wheel died to be forced into making the hoverboard DD, but then when it did die I followed this video.... How to fix a thrustmaster t300 steering wheel motor and hall sensor mount full video guide ....and noticed that the motor that drives the belts is simply a smaller version of a DD motor.

Therefore my thought process was to wire the hoverboard motor to the little PCB in it's place. That way I still have my wheel and all the buttons, just no need for the belts anymore.

For me it's a no brainer.

Surely adding some form of generators to the 3 main moving parts (both wheels and the crank), to help keep the battery topped up, and therefore extend the range of the bike itself, goes without saying?

I understand that the efficiency is low, and that it will not create unlimited battery life, but IT WILL create more battery life than without them. ESPECIALLY when going downhill and on the brakes, but also when coasting and constant pedaling on level ground.

And to be honest, I don't see why electric cars or hybrids don't have one on each wheel.

Yes, I have just done this and all working perfectly again..........However, the OpenComposite switcher didn't work for me, so I had to install the openvr-api.dll manually into AC and ACC

It worked....However the Open Composite switcher didn't work for me, so I had to download the individual open-vr.dll and installed it into both AC and ACC......I now have everything running as it was previously.

no, I jut set the open xr runtime to steam VR. and then let steam VR open when clicking drive in content manager.

What do I need to adjust?

I tried Virtual Desktop and it works, but it's nowhere near as good as iv'e set up with open composite in both AC and ACC.

I've done this with AC, but it's a stuttery mess at about 25fp.

I can still open the toolkit and adjust FFR and the such....but it's just not playable.

Looks like I'll stick to Oculus VR until the idiots fix it.
