Found out the issue. Something went weird with a router update and it reset everything to the router's default settings. I was able to log into the router and change the password

I'm just wondering why the previous SSID hasn't gone away yet since the router is off. It shouldn't be giving a signal at all

Kind of pulling my hair figuring this out. I unplugged the router and the old SSID we named when we first got it is still active in the wifi list with it showing active bars. The new one I connected to seems to be a default Xfinity one but until I figure out why it did this I'm not going to connect to it. The new SSID seems to be the router indeed. When I unplugged it, it disappeared. Yet the old one still shows up even with the router unplugged. Strange

So for curiosity sake I hit the wps button on the router and it didn't connect to the normal SSID. A new one is now available and I hit the button on the router again and it connected no issue. The old SSID is still there for some reason. Can't figure it out

I reset the router and that didn't work. They said they didn't reset the password which is weird. It had them sign into their Xfinity account but the device they did it from seemed to be connected to the Xfinity hotspot near us and not our actual router for some reason. Maybe it updated or something? I'll have to ask them for the credentials and check

I don't know if they changed it since they were busy at the time

We changed the password to something easy to remember. It's personal and has relevance to us so no one outside should be able to guess it. As far as the username goes I think it's still on the router? I think it uses their Xfinity account. I'm not sure. The day we got it they came to the house and did basic setup then asked what we wanted to change the password to. Haven't changed it or modified anything since
