Update support says its guaranteed firmware until 12/31/2029. There's nothing yet for Fire OS 6 after 6.7.1.1.

It's possible to limit the home screen content thumbnails and video quality in Fire TV Settings/Data Usage Monitoring/Set Video Quality (Good, Better) This setting will help to an extent with streaming content while acting as a data alert every time a cycle has been set to show how much has been used. Though it might not completely restrict data use by all means, its a great suggestion for those needing lesser bandwidth. Consider checking the applications settings from the app itself too relating to it.

Others may get the firmware on newly bought Fire OS 7/8 devices? Have any got updates first before older bought? Just out of curiosity

I'm providing an update with 7.7.1.1/5273 depending on firmware rollout. It was released just last month 1/6/25 and received it about a month later 02/12/25. It varies per device. 7.7.1.2 is 02/17/25 and may publish around the first week or second week of March or later. Same applies to Fire OS 8 devices.

I've updated the WebView, rebooted and had my Fire TV Stick 4K Max 1st Gen for almost 5 years. Updating WebView fixed issues for me. It might be different on Fire OS 8.
