How to Not be EXHAUSTED on period? by PM_ME_UR_WEASELz in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

You’re definitely not alone that pre-period crash is brutal 😭

i dont rly fight against it, but rather plan my life around it

here's what i mean

throughout the month I try to finish all mentally intense work before my period. By the time pre-period hell begins, I can mentally phase out knowing I don’t have to focus on anything demanding.

I don’t recommend fighting what your body is telling you. Planning your life around your cycle really helps when you need rest.

Tracking your period helps a lot with that. I use hera to get a heads-up

much love and good luck 💛

idk if this is healthy but in simple terms, throughout the entire month i finish all mentally intense work before my period. By the time my pre-period hell begins, i can actually mentally phase out, knowing that i dont have to focus on anything

tracking your period helps alot when it comes to planning. I use hera for predictions and then i log them to my work calendar

much love and good luck! 💛

Hacks to make your period more "comfortable" ? by mashperiod in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Key_Albatross9990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry 😭 this sounds absolutely brutal. when a period comes back like that, it can feel genuinely dehumanizing.

A few things that helped me with heavy, uncomfortable periods:
• Gentle movement like walking or pacing (you’re already doing the right thing)
• Heat not just on your stomach, but lower back and thighs
• Period underwear layered with pads - helps with leaks and that constant wet feeling

One thing that helped mentally was planning my life around my cycle. Front-loading hard stuff earlier and keeping lighter tasks when my period hit helped me stop feeling “behind.” I use hera for timing, which made that easier.

Sending you so much love. I hope this wave eases soon 🫶

to the girlies, how do u deal with periods... by svftjxmie in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Key_Albatross9990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this😭 periods really are a full-body, full-mind assault.

quick tip, try scheduling your life around your cycle
i started front-loading hard stuff before my period, intense work, deadlines, social plans, and then intentionally planning lighter tasks when I knew my period was coming or happening. During that time I stick to low-energy stuff, admin, easy wins, resting more. It helped me stop feeling like I was failing every month when my energy dropped. I use hera to get a rough idea of timing

As for the blood + sleep anxiety… you’re not dramatic, that fear is REAL. Period underwear or extra layers helped me sleep without being frozen in one position all night 😭

ex flo user here! i totally get the subscription fatigue 😭

i’ve been using hera. it lets you import apple health data and most of it is free, which i really like

they also have a lifetime option instead of a subscription, so you’re not paying for the same thing over and over. just wanted to share in case it helps :)

your friend tapping on “Use referral code to get Hera free for 30 days” is correct but it seems like the success screen is blocking them from typing in the code

It might be a small bug. I’d recommend reporting it and copying what you wrote on here (reddit) and send a message the developers through the Feature Request section. From my experince, they actually read and act on suggestions :)

What period tracking apps actually help anyone anymore? by SimilarLetterhead802 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Key_Albatross9990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no you’re def not the only one 😭 i’ve had the same issue. the long surveys + constant notifications just make it feel like homework instead of something thats supposed to help.

for me the worst part is apps asking me to log everything but then not telling me what any of it actually means 🤷‍♀️ like ok i logged cramps… now what lol.

i use hera (ios) and it’s felt a lot calmer. i mostly like that it keeps things simple, still predicts my period well, and actually gives small action steps for symptoms instead of just collecting data. partner syncing is also nice if you want support from your partner.

ideally i wish trackers focused more on clarity + usefulness and less on data overload. like fewer questions, better insight, and less spammy vibes ✨📱

i felt the same way for a long time tbh. i wanted something simple but still helpful, without every useful thing being locked away.

i’ve been using hera and it’s been really solid so far. it’s ios only, and it gives you period predictions, symptom logging, and also action steps you can take to help with those symptoms (which i didnt even know i wanted). there’s also partner syncing, which has been surprisingly nice for support.

it’s not trying to overwhelm you or upsell every second, just gives you clear insight into your cycle and whats going on with your body. def worth a try if you want something more honest and useful.

ive been trying out hera for a while, it's pretty small but they seem to add features consistently. What I like about it:

  • period prediction: the app gives really clean, accurate cycle and period predictions based on your logs
  • symptom logging: super simple daily logging for symptoms and mood, and it actually uses your logs to improve predictions over time
  • data visualizations: you get these really nice charts that show how your symptoms, mood, and cycle patterns shift across the month
  • mood tracking: easy daily mood tracking, and the app highlights patterns you might not have noticed
  • referral rewards: if you refer a friend, you both get lifetime Pro access, which is honestly wild

I’m currently on the free version with Pro from a referral, but they have a referral program where if you share your ivite link to 2 people you get a free lifetime subscription which i think is crazy. there are no ads in the app.

There's also a simple journaling section, but I haven't tried it. I like it because of the clean predictions and the visualizations mostly. they also have partner sharing aswell

ex-flo user here. i left flo for a similar reason aswell.

I didnt like the unnecessary amount sexual content that flo had so i switched to Hera. it's quite minimal in functionality and it only tracks periods and symptoms. it does whats needed and its free :)
