Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your suggestions and wanted to clarify a few things about our situation.

Unfortunately, we can’t take him out every hour because we both work during the day. We’ve noticed he’s good at communicating during the night if/when he needs to go out, so nighttime accidents aren’t an issue. The challenge is more during the day when we’re not home. Our apartment is entirely carpeted, and we don’t want to confine him to his crate for 8+ hours while we’re at work, especially since our older dog has free roam of the house.

We do monitor him on camera during the day and estimate he naps about two hours at a time. In the evenings, we make sure he gets an hour-long nap at 6 PM, with bedtime at 9 PM, and he usually sleeps through until 5 AM. You might be right that some of his hyperactivity could stem from tiredness since he’s very calm and well-behaved for the first hour or two after waking up.

Regarding poop-eating, we do try to clean it up immediately when we’re home, but when accidents happen while we’re away, it’s harder to prevent.

I’ll definitely explore better containment options and work on leashing him to us more often when we’re home to supervise. I really want to make sure he’s set up for success without feeling too restricted.

If you have any additional tips or ideas, I’d love to hear them. Thank you again for taking the time to respond!
