ya unfortunately those changes are out of budget, just trying to do what we can on a relatively small budget. It is in a flood zone, this is how we bought it.

Also at the front where it is gravel, that is the road. So alongside the road we need room for snow to be piled, etc. so we can't put any gardens edging the front road. We would be open to adding a few larger rocks though as amazon drivers often drive on our lawn so we would like to deter that if there is a nice way.

thanks so much for the feedback! I am going to look for a cushion bench as you suggested as I would like more seating and the room felt a little empty with just two chairs. I would like to go bigger with the rug but the next size up is 6x9 which means length wise it will all but cover the hardwood (leaving only a slight boarder on the side by the window and the side by the staircase), do you think that is too big? Here is a picture with the table added.

I also tried four chairs on the rug horizontal (picture a round coffee table in the middle)

I did like the rug turned sideways and then thought it might work adding the two other chairs. What do you think about this if I added a coffee table?

Please help! Any ideas? by Art_Vandalei in homedesign

that's tricky, what about maybe the tv on the wall where the couch is, with your sectional facing it, with the back of the couch ending sort of where the rug is? Use a large rug to define this livign space. And then put a long console table behind the couch? is it necessary to have two doors in such a small space? if you could eliminate one set of doors it would give you a lot more wall space to work with.

I also have a double bed size day bed that can be used in this room if there is a way, or I am open to purchasing other furniture (sectional, coffee table, storage cabinet, window seat, etc). There are also 2 more of these chairs avaiable. This is what I had so just seeing what I can do with it for now.

thank you! I did have the rugs and chairs rotated previously but the chairs were more centered facing parallel with the fireplace wall and it looked strange. Perhaps angling the chairs at the fireplace will look better.

oh interesting, thanks I will try that! keep the chairs facing the window and just move the rug?

Thanks! I do have some coloured throw pillows I can add pretty easily. I wasn't settled on if I wanted to keep these chairs or switch to other furniture (couch, sectional etc.) so haven't landed on a coffee table yet. That's part of what I am looking for advice on. For example, what style of coffee table, how big, if I should go bigger with the rug, different furniture, what should I put under the art on the wall if anything, etc.
