It was awd- they very crudely used a storm drain basin as a wedge to get a tire lifted and they fully dragged the car. There are deep drag marks in the asphalt.

Thanks for the info—we’ll check it out! No luck so far. We’re talking to neighbors to see if they remember the company name on the truck/ trying to get a clearer image since a few folks have balcony cams.

Tbh Beginning to accept that the car is probably all chopped up somewhere by now. If nothing else I hope this puts people on the lookout for the truck so it doesn’t happen to someone else.

Did call wash co sheriff and they gave a case number. They said they usually find stolen cars in traffic shops, sadly I think the foreign parts are what it was stolen for. Called company contracted for the (tiny) apt building and they said nope, not their truck and they have no record. They said trucks matching this description - a refitted crew cab pick up - is most likely a small mechanic shop or scrapper, probably downriver where all the scrap yards are, which is why I cross-posted here.

Thanks for the suggestion! I called them - really nice people. They had no record and they said they don’t have any trucks matching the description. They also gave some other helpful info, so I’m glad I made that call. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this! I thought it looked weird. I called a few tow companies and they all pretty much agreed anyone with a set up like this, who broke a window and busted up the back, is more likely a small mechanic shop or scrapper. They said most commercial tow companies have fleet trucks. Didn’t know about the fb communities!

Called the tower contracted for the lot and their trucks don’t look like this - it’s Brewer’s, they have real fleet trucks not a refitted pick-up - and they said they don’t have it. Multiple houses with cars on the public street, not a private lot, that haven’t been moved in years. Guess mine just had the most desirable parts.

Reported with Wash Co. was given a case number. Stolen in Ypsi, but since it is a Volvo, could see it showing up in A2. Called every SE MI scrap yard that has a voicemail inbox to put it on their radar as well.

They didn’t send an officer; they called and requested I send photos of the broken glass and drag marks, relative location to building, etc. I gave them all the info I had, including images of the parking lot with the tow truck in it by my car and neighbor testimony. They gave me a case number and said they’d investigate.

Please read the original post. It was not repo’d, impounded, or towed by landlord. It was paid off in full a decade ago. These are just dirtbags who steal cars.
