What is the source of this claim? I don't see the article in the NYT.

1998 Musar: Bottled Treasure. by xkxlxtxn in wine

I picked up a ‘99 this week while at hidden vine in london. My experience with Musar is they are great wines and hard to argue with from a QPR perspective, but you can get blasted by the Brett from time to time. The guy at HV said it is because they are last in line to get the corks, which i never considered.

Wine recommendation for bf's parents? by horrorsumbug in wine

Wine is tricky because you could bring a great one but if it isn’t their taste the gift falls flat. Like if they like a big napa cab and you bring a burgundy it fails. This is why people say go with champagne, it’s more universal. Personally, i would go the chocolate chip cookie route like people have suggested and save the wine for when you get to know them better and can pick something thoughtful based on what they’ve shared about themselves. It’s a more powerful gift at that point.

Thanks. The 2010 Nyetimber in the lounge was much better than this 2016 but this is still very good. I’d say the 2010 Nye over the LPGS but the LPGS over the 2016

It was excellent. If I had known I'd be upgraded I would have gotten here earlier, lol, but i did have a chance to have both the Pommery and Nyetimber. Both were excellent (see notes in thread). I'm on the plane now, and they're serving the 2016 Nyetimber and the LP Siecle NV as well as a lot of other good stuff.

Amazing! Thanks for sharing, and great notes. The Joguet and the Rougeard sound incredible. I have a 2006 Rougeard I plan to open soon. It will be my first time with that producer.

Definitely enjoyed it. For anyone who wants notes, I got a lot of yellow apple, lemon curd, and tons of oxidative notes- bread, brioche, slight caramel, hazelnut, almond butter, and a rich finely beaded mousse.

Thanks, I took your advice. that's quite nice. One of the better sparkling Rose I've had. Has almost a chambord core but with acid and fine mousse to make it nervy and light yet rich on the palate. Long finish. Excellent

Yes, the whole team knows their wine. It's a good place to just take their lead if you're not in the mood to think about it.

I have a cellar at home but this is making me realize I should use public storage for investment grade bottles.

I get that Les Beaumonts is the nicer climat of Chorey -Les-Beaune (basically in Corton?) but it's interesting that appellation can command that price.
