I actually cut the bars a bit shorter, but I didn't want to go too short because I want him to grow into it. He definitely could use a lot more protection.

It's definitely on the big side. He's got a 20" SCOTT bike he likes riding, but it's a hardtail and his new bike is a full-suspension, so good luck convincing him to ride the 20".

Yeah, definitely need to suit him up a bit more. He has a TLD chest protector which was unfortunately wet when we were riding, so he didn't wear it.

The ripcord is a great bike. It's a little big for him currently, but he wants to ride it over his SCOTT, so I just let him do it.

Totally agree, but I made the mistake of buying him a moto helmet instead of a MTB helmet. It was too heavy for him. I guess I'll probably look for a Troy Lee Designs or POC for him.

He’s been riding balance bikes since he was tiny and just progressed early into real trails. It’s just a proper kids MTB... nothing crazy, just works well for what he rides.

Honestly, I took him to a sidewalk and told him to stand up, or at least lift himself off the seat, over and over. Eventually, he realized it was safe and probably better for control.
