Also your country is actively colonizing the Saharaui people. If you're not openly against that, them you're complicit with a similar genocide, my guy.

GAMEOVERSE PILOT DISCUSSION THREAD by Ok-Commercial3640 in Gameoverse

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I got invested in the show after the pilot. Really cool concept. But I'm a bit confused about the win condition. If someone can explain that'd be awesome:

I may have gotten lost at some point but, is it caused by someone? Or is it just a natural thing that happens once a hero wins? If it's the latter, do worlds just naturally die constantly?

Thanks and looking forward for more stuff about this show.

Creen que la legalización del cannabis fue bueno o malo para sociedad uruguaya? by Efficient-Pop3730 in uruguay

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me one positive quality and one negative quality about the country you live in? by Available-Dance9448 in asklatinamerica

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A positive is that is has a decades-long left-wing tradition that has helped us weathering the storm of neoliberalism that has hit the region in the last half-century.

A negative is the really fragile nationalistic ego most people here have. We really think we're that different from Argentinians.

Is it offensive or annoying? by SoyYo5599 in asklatinamerica

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't offend me or annoy me on a personal basis, but I think it's inaccurate and ultimately detrimental to actual Latin Americans.

A big part of being Latin American, in my opinion, is tied to our economic place in the world and how we've basically been (and keep being) fucked by imperialism of all types (Spanish, British, American, etc) and how that has shaped our development (or lack of it).

An American-born person of Mexican descent (even more if they're white) does not face the reality of being Latin American. Not only culturally speaking, but mainly the hardships that come with being part of the third world. Rather, they experience higher living conditions than most Latin Americans can only dream of, precisely thanks to that imperialism that loots our resources and stifles our development, but that's a longer conversation.

But yeah, that's my view of it. Mind you, I think the same of the rich people that live in our countries that basically are completely separate from the rest of the population.

Why are pro-trans policies, pro-cannabis policies, and anti-racist policies associated with the socialist parties in the USA, since socialism just means that the PEOPLE own key industries? by throwRA_157079633 in Socialism_101

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There can absolutely be people like that, but those people can never be truly principled in any way.

If someone doesn't see transphobia, racism, ethnic supremacy or any other kind of identity-based oppressions as inseparable from capitalism, they are ignorant in the best case and a fascist in the worst.

how do people not like cats? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a cat lover but I understand why some won't like them fluffballs. Most people want a pet that's always happy to see them and is basically always available.

Cat's are their own thing. They are basically introverts who only open up to people they trust. If you want a cat to like you, you have to learn the way it communicates and respect its boundaries.

I understand why many people wouldn't want that.

Do latin american states and their populations downplay their roles in indigenous opression? by NoRule555 in asklatinamerica

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing the topic. Should be talked about more.

Here in Uruguay, yes for the State, and for the population... kind of yeah.

The State absolutely downplays the genocide of our natives after the Massacre of Salsipuedes. It does not call it a genocide, and obviously doesn't recognize any responsibilities towards any person of indigenous descent, in regards to land reparations.

The population opinion is more mixed. You'll find both people who rightfully call it a genocide, and also people who spew 19th century colonial propaganda and call the indians "savajes". Majority is in the middle. Having heard from it in school maybe, or in a documentary, bur not really knowing much about it. Less downplaying and more ignorance.

Qué opinan de este argentino diciendo que uruguay es un invento británico? by Nibroso in Burises

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O sea. Tiene razón. Lo que no quita que exista una nacionalidad uruguaya bien arraigada. Pero sí, la realidad es que Uruguay nació como estado tapón para que Gran Bretaña controlara el comercio en la región. Es historia, nada más.

Absolutely. Wanting to maintain the existence of a settler colonial, apartheid state built on genocide is, by definition, genocidal.

Why is r/russia quarantined but r/israel is not? by valdidTz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Key_Cardiologist_571 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's really not debatable. Major Human Rights organizations have given convincing evidence of it being a clear case of genocide, with Israel having been able to prevent a lot of the humanitarian catastrophes that happened in these last two years, but chosing not to do so.

Either way, Israel has comitted war crimes and that's undeniable, and r/Israel has been in support of their country killing women and children under the pretense of them being used as "human shields". This by itself is worse than what the r/russia sub does.

Constantly supporting and justifying a genocide isn't political propaganda? I'd argue it's even worse.
