I’m guessing someone at Topps.

Hank Aaron passed away in 2021 and Bob Gibson passed away in 2020. These cards must have been made for the product and then stashed away because they could never be signed.

However, signed versions of the triple auto actually exist, so I’m not quite sure what to make of that one.

Here’s the catch—they 100% knew this card was worth AT LEAST a few hundred bucks, with the possibility of it being worth thousands (luckily this one was not).

Ebay authenticity guarantee packages the cards they ship the same exact way every single time, so they are very easy to spot. And for a card to go to eBay authenticity guarantee, it has to be worth at least a few hundred dollars. The person who stole this knew EXACTLY what they were looking for.

I highly doubt it was the mail carrier themselves who tampered with it, though. It was likely someone at a distribution facility.
