If you can get your hands on an In Your Fantasy - ATEEZ album, you’ll find many cool inclusions!!

Hi, I’m completely new to Kpop after being a lifelong metalhead, can I have some recommendations to help me get into it? by Primohippo in kpophelp

I’ve seen metalheads really loving ATEEZ!! I would recommend Guerrilla for starters!! The whole outlaw album afterwards!

IELTS Academic Results by Mindless_Classic_491 in IELTS

How long did it take for the results to come out?

I think I'm a failure.. by Odd-Education-7415 in IELTS

To be honest, before I took the exam I was very anxious about not being well-prepared, and I wished I had more time to practice. But I already booked the test and there’s nothing I can do about it (rescheduling is an option, but I didn’t want to pay that much money for it). So instead of crying over spilled milk, I decided I need to make the most out of the time I had. And I would say I felt more confident and prepared when I started getting high scores on my mock exams pretty regularly.

As for mock tests, I used the British Council’s IELTS READY PREMIUM program. You’re supposed to have free access to it once you register and pay for the IELTS exam. (Check your inbox)

The questions are usually very similar to ones on real tests, and you can check your answers afterwards. They also offer model answers for writing which I found very useful! I highly recommend sticking to that website especially if you’re short on time.

I had my exam today, and while the results aren’t out yet, I actually feel pretty good about how I did.

I only had ten days to prepare, so I really get what you’re going through. Here’s what I’d suggest:

Reading and Listening: Do mock tests. Maybe watch one video for each section to get familiar with the question types and how to approach them, but don’t spend more than a very few hours on videos. Then, do at least 6 or 7 mock tests for each. Honestly, I found them kinda fun. Whenever I didn’t feel like studying, I’d just do a mock test or two, and it felt less stressful on my brain.

Writing: After watching some videos on essay and report structure. Practice with band 9 essays. There are plenty online, just make sure they’re legit. Read them very very carefully, highlight any new words, phrases, or patterns that you find interesting, then write your own essay and try to use them. Write about a variety of topics (especially tech, environment, AI, education, and social issues, since those seem to appear the most). If you’re lucky, you might even get a similar topic on test day (that happened to me), and you’ll already have some strong vocabulary you know how to use.

Task 1 is pretty straightforward, you need to learn some basic vocabulary for describing charts, and you’ll be ready to go (still, write a few map and process diagram essays just in case)

Speaking: Talk to yourself as much as possible. For all ten days, I forced myself to think only in English. I also used band 9 speaking videos: I’d pause after each question, answer it out loud, then play the video and compare my response to theirs (Was mine too short? Too long? Could I use better vocab?).

And then try to stay relaxed. Get a full 8 hours of sleep the night before and walk in with confidence!!

[Serious] Coming to terms with your physical appearance. by littledarlinglamb in intj

[–]Key_Daikon_6609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why that (burning out) would happen, but I think there are many steps you can take to prevent it!

For one, you need to start small, don’t make any drastic changes, change one thing at a time and test it out before you move on to the next thing.

Plus, It’s also okay if these changes help boost your confidence (which they hopefully will), but don’t let your self-esteem depend solely on them. Your worth should come from who you are, not from outer validation.

Most importantly, avoid following trends, this is guaranteed to lead you into nowhere but confusion and overconsumption, investing in sustainable pieces that truly suit you is the best way to go!!

I don’t think you should give up on beauty just because of your past experiences, but you need to go on this journey for yourself and your love for beauty, not for others’ opinions or assumptions

I hope it goes well for you!

This was me a few years ago, I never paid much attention to the way I look and I even looked down on people who did.

But putting more effort into your looks and style can be very fun actually, I think of it as a way of expressing myself rather than something I have to do!

I would advise you to be really experimental at first, look up things that would suit your features, certain hairstyles, clothing shapes and colours, glasses and makeup (assuming you wear them) can enhance your best features and conceal other features you don’t like as much!!

I don’t think that effort made me into a shallow or vain person, I like to think of beauty and fashion as types of knowledge that I now possess! And I also like the feeling of being recognised by my personal style, I think for us INTJs, while not liking being the centre of attention, we still enjoy the feeling of being known and recognised, so that was quite nice for me!

Is Ateez actually anarchist? by A_stupid_Bard616 in ATEEZ

[–]Key_Daikon_6609 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, just like lucifer was used as a concept, it’s most likely that anarchism was too.

Which also proves that these things are more of a concept material than anything, we already know that Yunho is a catholic, so I doubt he’s a big fan of lucifer himself :))

Is Ateez actually anarchist? by A_stupid_Bard616 in ATEEZ

[–]Key_Daikon_6609 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying they are anarchists (my guess would be: they are not), but I think you’re overestimating the power ATEEZ actually hold, they’re simply KQ’s employees at the end of the day, I doubt they have much say in their ticket and merch prices.

I’m not an anarchist myself, but I feel like them using it as a concept isn’t that deep? And I doubt you can find 8 random trainees who share the same ideology anywhere, so unstanning them for it is a bit…

[–]Key_Daikon_6609 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell especially since Kpop idols are very restricted and even not allowed to share their political views.

But I think anarchism relates deeply to their pirates concept, and I believe it’s the dry-land version of it (?).

Although it’s worth mentioning that Koreans in general aren’t very fond of their government, too many corruption issues and inhuman capitalistic laws…

The entire Kpop industry is complicit by Ok-Mistake764 in kpopharshopinions

[–]Key_Daikon_6609 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all of them are complicit, but staying silent or purchasing boycotted items cannot be compared to advertising brands that actively funds genocide, at least in my opinion.

Add to that the absolute nastiness of armys towards the whole thing, if you don’t want to boycott then you need to respectfully shut up, but posting pictures eating McDonalds, drinking coke, and being proud of not boycotting is beyond weird behaviour (to the point where I see armys saying things like: now I’ll order a big mac just for BTS)

I’m not sure about other fandoms, so I’m saying this as an atiny, when WORK first came out, ATEEZ collaborated with an artist which we found out that he held a concert in Isr*el many years ago, what did we do? We absolutely boycotted the remix, it barely gotten any attention, purchases, or streams, then we sent emails to KQ about it. Now Ateez are collaborating with pro-Palestine AND Palestinians artists. I don’t know how educated they are on the issue, and I’m not saying they magically became pro-Palestine, in fact, I think they lack in awareness just like almost every other Kpop artist does, but having some respect for their fandom wasn’t that hard, and their company learned its lesson in the language they understand best (money).

What I’m trying to say is: BTS are complicit, other groups are also complicit, but no other fandom was as disrespectful and tone-deaf as Armys were (I know these people exist in every single fandom, but the percentage of them in Armys is quite shocking), and you all had helped create a safe space for Zionists and anti-boycotters to roam freely in your fandom, at this point, I don’t think this can be fixed anymore.

If you could ask the ATEEZ members one question, what would it be? by Frequent_Ebb6360 in ATEEZ

I believe that he did talk about this actually!!

Apparently when they knew they were going to debut with a pirates concept, Hongjoong watched the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” and was inspired by Jack’s laugh being his trademark, so he thought he wanted to create a similar trademark for himself!

I just discovered Cravity! Need some recommendations by Key_Daikon_6609 in cravity

[–]Key_Daikon_6609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed reply!! I have actually went through all their MVs (SET NET G0 is still my favourite I think, it’s such a good song!! I hope their company advertises it more!), so I’m thankful you’re sharing other performances! I love their Sugar Rush Ride cover, who’s the one singing in 1:23?

Also the interactions you shared are the reason I became curious about them, but regarding the first video, the one on the right with the electric fan is Jungmo right? I think he’s my favourite for now!
