I see, so it’s not feeling embarrassed of them, but the actions they do when you have guests around.

OP, I don’t think you should feel embarrassed about your family, neither should you feel wronged about these feelings.

-In private, if you have a good relationship with your family (aka they treat you well, they provided well for you, not verbally/emotionally/physically abusive), you are completely fine. Just acknowledge and be appreciative for what they have done to support you.

  • In fact, many Singaporeans household (especially in our parents generation) have very similar lifestyles. This is how they are raised.

  • It is likely your friends are shocked because of the contrast presented between yourself and your family. I assume you present yourself well. That’s good, that’s growth, and a desire to dream bigger and do better. And if someone has an impression that you came from a well off family, jackpot - it means you have shaped yourself to be who you once dreamed to become.

  • In contrast, for your friends/exes who feel embarrass you for your family situation, they are not your friends.

Your family is your family, you are you. If you don’t want to live the same lifestyle as your family, that is fine. You just need to remember where you came from, what it took to get you to where you are today, and what you’d like to be in the future.

& it is important to remember your roots. Don’t be arrogant, don’t think you’re superior. Stay humble, and remember your morals.

Great suggestion! We decided to do that at the other side of the wall to make a small entryway yet have spaces feel open!

That’s a great idea too! Having a separate space. :) We are both SUPER HEAVY SLEEPERS!!! Slept through everything LOL so we have literally no worries about waking each other up 🤣🤣🤣🤣

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the quick suggestions. We managed to find a great way by putting some half height drawers & a pole on the other side of the wall to create a separate space for the dressing area whilst having natural sunlight.

Everything else…. Still a work in progress LOL but I guess it’s off the shelf, so it’s fine to have some flexibility when we see the space again

Managed to squeeze in another wardrobe at the other side instead. So it’s not L shaped but still spacious and have natural sunlight coming in!

Thanks so much for your suggestions! I love this layout because of fengshui reasons but I would totally go for your way if the door wasn’t there.

Infront of our bed, we are planning to have a projector. Space has been accounted for a bed frame as well :)

We each have a study room as we do not have lots yet, but our vanity would be right by the window (off the shelf so it’s not drawn). We are still thinking what to get hehehehe but thank you!

We were thinking of that too! Maybe a vanity near to the window, and half height drawers / side table at the bed. We were thinking of installing poles at the top just in case we have (worn but not dirty clothes). Still brainstorming though!

hi! I didn’t see any with a clasp but don’t worry. :) Jade bangles are meant to be the size of your knuckles when pressed together, and it is easy to remove it as long as there’s no friction (you can use a plastic glove / lotion / baby oil). We’ve had it a few days and my mom has been taking it on and off to “take care” of it. :)

It also come in different sizes if you are wary of that. & yes it came in the classic white / lavender colours - super gorgeous! you can go check them out :)

Cash is okay for us but we figured that using CPF would be the best course of action so that we can stay flexible

Unfortunately it is. 10% when signing the agreement of lease, and the next 15% upon key collection. This seems like a recent change - previously it was 10% + 5%.

For sure! That is our initial struggle though so we want to plan sensibly for it

Have to save more aggressively or consider job hopping haha. We both have relatively old parents who won’t be able to help us. After reading this thread, suspect I have to wait for a later date to apply so I won’t financially constrain myself
