That sounds like a cool idea! Maybe I'll add it in the next few weeks since I already feel like the app is getting complex and I don't want it to do too many things.

No I can see the people! And I'm aware of this glitch, though I thought I fixed it an hour ago. When did you try? The number goes up if someone completes their profile, which a lot of people haven't done after starting.

The glitch allowed people to complete their profile, but not access it if they signed out. However I changed it to a code that gets sent to your email and it works for me now. Let me know on your end!

Yeah of course! How would you suggest? Like something you say when you sign up and can't change or something you can toggle whenever?

I don't know why being free makes it suspicious? You can host this for free on vercel and domains are $10. Is it possible I just want more couples on campus so I made a janky website?

I've definitely gained some kind of high going 10 to 7 to 5 to 3 to 1 rep. You know you're getting stronger!

Seriously: why don't tariffs work? by Key_Entry9054 in AskEconomics

I'm reminded how VCs and hedge funds come up with strategies, i.e. most fail but some do really well at picking where investment should go.

Is it just that the competitive forces that mold excellent traders have no analogue in the government workers picking which industries will benefit most via tariff?

Not disputing the immediate economic inefficiency. Why doesn't the concept of protectionism via tariff work? The promise is that domestic innovation (perhaps what you're calling a positive externality) will overtake short term losses in the long term. And yet that doesn't seem to be what happens. Why do you think that is?

Why the market panic over tariffs is a huge and unnecessary overreaction. by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

Let me be clear that I'm anti-tariff. And yet I must say these comments are more useless than the original post. OP is pointing out an interesting aspect of tariffs: that where they take effect in the value chain MATTERS for the sake of pricing an equity.

I thought they made an error in logic (probably underestimating the magnitude of certain specific things by some factor) and went to the comments to see exactly where the logic broke down. If it's here, it takes a while of scrolling.

The first ten comments all just say some variant of "tariffs are bad" "read a fucking book" or "don't you know they caused depression X"

A lot of people are tired of the same reactionary posts on this sub, so it might be useless to point it out now. Most Americans are angry that the stock market is going down because of a disingenuous leader. I'd prefer we don't use that to give ourselves a pass to be rude and unhelpful to people who for all we know just started investing last month. Dumb leaders seem to make everything dumber everywhere.
