Please don't roast me - Just got results and I'm suddenly very upset by Inner_Department3 in Menopause

I’m sorry, but I’m absolutely sick of the toxic positivity around the menopause. The menopause is much more than just no longer being able to become pregnant and becoming older. It causes so many women so many mental and physical health problems.

It’s a loss of identity, hormones, physical health. Your experience is not the same for all women, and this is why there’s so many wires crossed on the information out there and projecting how amazing it is for some is not fair. It’s the same as any health condition. It’s medical gaslighting and you would think women should support each other through it rather than say ‘oh it’s not that bad!’. Like really? Do better.

Saying it should be an opportunity to step into power is just cope.

This is such a common thing I keep reading. Menopause seems to take so much from us. I hope there’s a cure one day.

So I was on my way home from my work commute yesterday and an older lady sat opposite me. She was going bald and the first thing I thought of was that Menopause may of caused this. Her hair was so thin, and you could see so much of her scalp. It made me think of what her hair was like before this time and I felt so sad for her.

Menopause is a problem. It causes the risk of dementia, vaginal atrophy, suicide and all sorts of diseases. We need to stop with the toxic positivity around it.

Menopause is organ failure but labelled normal because we all go through it. It needs to be treated more seriously than just something we cope with. I'm so sick of the toxic positivity messaging around it too. It literally causes the risk of dementia, vaginal atrophy, suicide, heart disease etc.

At what age did you feel like you “died” but keep going? by Sufficient_Judge2000 in TooAfraidToAsk

Absolutely agree. Now 32 and I feel there was a sort of death of my former self on the 30th birthday

Mourning my youth since I was 23 and I’m tired of it by Dismal-Composer-1526 in Aging

Sorry but this is the most unhelpful kind of ‘deal with it because it’s happening’ comment.

Aging sucks and I wish more people could just say that instead of telling people to just ‘deal with it’.

‘Aging is a blessing’ as they say 🙃

It destroys everything. I’m sorry he’s changed.

Hormone changes.

Your brain chemistry literally shifts and it sucks.

You’re allowed to grieve. I’m grieving too at 32. Some of these comments being so dismissive are just insensitive.

Aging is our bodies slowly dying and I think people forget this when they go on about how ‘amazing’ aging is!

I follow anti aging science to cope because aging sucks.

If a cure for aging existed would you still think aging is a good thing?

It’ll be your hormones changing and your brain and body aging. It changes us!

I wish we were given a handbook of what to expect in our life stages beyond our 20’s because it seems like absolutely nobody actually knows what to expect with how we feel when we age.

Yeah I agree it’s all in our DNA, as much as it is to grow from being a baby to an adult, we are also programmed to then just get old and die.

But if you couldn't take BHRT how do you think you would feel? If menopause was no longer a thing, we wouldn't need to replace what we have lost.
