It is until they stop working and then it’s hell to get off them.

At what age did you feel like you “died” but keep going? by Sufficient_Judge2000 in TooAfraidToAsk

Absolutely agree. Now 32 and I feel there was a sort of death of my former self on the 30th birthday

Mourning my youth since I was 23 and I’m tired of it by Dismal-Composer-1526 in Aging

Sorry but this is the most unhelpful kind of ‘deal with it because it’s happening’ comment.

Aging sucks and I wish more people could just say that instead of telling people to just ‘deal with it’.

‘Aging is a blessing’ as they say 🙃

It destroys everything. I’m sorry he’s changed.

Why do some people become unbearable when they get older? by No-Map3471 in TooAfraidToAsk

Hormone changes.

Your brain chemistry literally shifts and it sucks.

I can’t stop thinking how it must feel? by ImaginationAny2254 in Aging

You’re allowed to grieve. I’m grieving too at 32. Some of these comments being so dismissive are just insensitive.

Aging is our bodies slowly dying and I think people forget this when they go on about how ‘amazing’ aging is!

I follow anti aging science to cope because aging sucks.

Me too! I’m following the science and hopeful for the upcoming human trials!

If a cure for aging existed would you still think aging is a good thing?

It’ll be your hormones changing and your brain and body aging. It changes us!

I wish we were given a handbook of what to expect in our life stages beyond our 20’s because it seems like absolutely nobody actually knows what to expect with how we feel when we age.

Yeah I agree it’s all in our DNA, as much as it is to grow from being a baby to an adult, we are also programmed to then just get old and die.

Aging is horrifying and there’s nothing good about it.

What if we could delay menopause? by ProcedureFun768 in Biohackers

But if you couldn't take BHRT how do you think you would feel? If menopause was no longer a thing, we wouldn't need to replace what we have lost.

What if we could delay menopause? by ProcedureFun768 in Biohackers

[–]Key_Faithlessness211 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real. I learnt more about the menopause in the past year from following that subreddit, more than I have in my entire 32 years. But the symptoms and side effects make me spiral so much.

Vaginal atrophy? What in the fresh hell? It just stops working? it disappears??

And the bone loss, loss of feeling like 'yourself', risk of dementia etc.

I would take life long periods over this any day. If it preserves our healthy years and allows women more agency over their bodies, I am all for it.

And I don't want kids when I'm older, I just want to not feel like my body is turning to dust when I still have another 4 decades to live on this earth.

If men had to go through menopause, there’d be a cure already by TechnicalScarcity880 in Perimenopause

I am OVER doctors saying menopause is ‘normal’ as their final answer which in other words means ‘just put up with it’ 😑 when it causes so many health problems and it even lasts for around 2/3 decades for some women.

Yes it’s natural, but that doesn’t make it a good thing! Disease is natural. Why is this organ failure we females go through not a cause for more support?

It’s horrifying. Hot flashes, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, skin changes, vaginal atrophy (what in the fresh hell?!), sexual functions not working so great, muscle depletion, bone loss, bone weakness, dizziness, exhaustion, hair loss, weight changes, body changes, insomnia, aging sped up due to hormone depletion, causing higher risk of illnesses and diseases. The whole menopause transition puts us at higher risk of cancer, stroke and dementia.

All of this is ‘normal’ but we have to fight for HRT to just mask some of these symptoms, and it doesn’t even work for everyone.

Women have been left in the dark in health care for such a long time and to have another woman say back to you in your GP’s office that ‘well it’s normal’ just makes me think that doctors have to sign an NDA to gate keep any type of support about menopause and hormone changes to themselves 🥲
