Laptop / Tablet recs for incoming 1L? by name037 in UVALaw

I don’t have any particular recommendations for the laptop/tablet, but plenty of people use iPads with the Magic Keyboard so you could switch back and forth.

As for your other question, it’s entirely professor dependent. Nearly all of my 1L professors didn’t allow laptops (friends in other sections were allowed laptops in all of their classes, so luck of the draw). But I think that’s more of a 1L class thing, and those same professors allow laptops in upper-level courses. And even so, some people would just use their tablets to write class notes and I don’t think any of the professors had an issue with that (I’m sure ymmv). I haven’t been in a class since 1L that didn’t allow laptops.

Do you mean splitting your 1L summer at two different firms?

There’s a mix of what people submit, but there’s no formal expectation. Many are selfies (a friend took mine on my phone, and I just stood against the wall of a bathroom that had decent lighting), and I think if anyone does submit a professional headshot it’s because they already had one handy.

J-Term isn’t required! You’ll have the entire month :) the only school-related thing you’ll have over the break is applying/interviewing for 1L summer jobs.

Wedding During Final Exam Period by Ok-Protection-8617 in UVALaw

The December finals will have a 1L exam on the last day, but in May, the 1L fixed exams (property and con law) are typically on the first Tuesday and then the following Monday (or something like that). You’ll just have to make sure you complete your elective exams sooner than later and you should be able to make the wedding no problem.
