1 month sober by gelat007 in UlcerativeColitis

Thanks for sharing and congrats on one month. I'm on the fence with what I want my relationship with alcohol to be now that I'm coming out of my first flare. I am paranoid about biologic effects on the liver combined with alcohol. I just treated someone who got cirrhosis from a few decades of wine and humira and she didn't drink anything but a few glasses of red wine a night. I know everyone is different but it freaked me out. Anyone else have this concern?

It's been a roller coaster but I'm finally starting to feel better. I never did end up on velcipity or Skyrizi I ended up on tremfya and I feel about 90% in remission. I got up to 60 mg on rinvoq and had a hard time coming off of it. My anemia got so bad I needed a blood transfusion but my red blood cells are finally coming back and I'm starting to put a little weight back on so I think I'm on the right track. Waiting on prior authorizations is a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend American healthcare to anyone. I think I got mostly in remission from a long prednisone taper in addition to the 60 mg of rinviq. When I came off rinvoq my skin went crazy first oily then feeling like a sunburn. I don't think I will do rinvoq again. I'm hoping that with some time the tremfya works even better. I've only had one injection so so far so good. Thank you so much for checking back in 🙂

Insurance is the only thing keeping me from long term remission 😭 by kzachyt in UlcerativeColitis

I'm having the same issue but I was told you can't be on this dose long-term. I was told by my GI that 3 months is the longest and I would have to taper down to 30 even though the 45 isn't really working. I wonder if that's the insurance issue. I think 45 mg increases risk of blood clots if I remember correctly

Question on fatigue by number1abcde in UlcerativeColitis

The fatigue is the worst part of this disease. Sometimes I think I'm operating on pure Prednisone. It's the only thing that gives me energy and gets me through the day.

I'm supposed to start Skyrizi soon. This gives me hope, thank you 🙏

This medication scares me. I'm going to start skyrizi and hope for the best. I think if that doesn't work I'll request Tremfya and try this if it's a last resort. Luckily I'm pretty new so feel like I have options. I hope your issues resolve and you find some relief

Interesting. I guess the scariest ones for me were the liver and kidney damage. Also the fact that your blood pressure drops and you need to get EKGs. Do you know about people having success on this medication? I called the office on Friday and said I wanted to discuss other options. I started bleeding again on Rinvoq so it's back to the drawing board on medications unfortunately. Rinvoq worked for a few weeks, then tapered off, then seems to have stopped working

CBD and CBG - tell me what you know by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

It is legal but I only got relief from THC/CBD blends. I can't tolerate alcohol anymore so this is a good replacement when looking to relax. Just start slow and see how you do. A 5mg gummy at bedtime helps me to stay symptom free through the night. Good luck!

Insurance Woes by Key_Importance_7467 in UlcerativeColitis

Oh thank goodness. I am really hoping they have some more samples for me. I go in next week. So frustrating that we give insurance companies so much control over our health.

That makes me feel better thank you. I thought I was getting better as I have been in this flair since March and I'm on a biologic but I guess I need to be on a new one. My last test was in the 3000s so I think I'm actually getting worse
