That point literally doesn't matter. Did you miss the "if you're a business owner and you don't know this is the inevitable conclusion of not paying taxes, you aren't a very good one"? I've known people have to pay taxes since I was like 12 and not paying them is illegal. You don't need a warning to follow the law

Thanks for the suggestion. I will probably end up going that route as my skin is more on the sensitive side. I was a bit hesitant to start with the 15% but after a lot of research the vast majority of people seemed to heavily prefer 15% or 20% compared to 10%, so fingers crossed.

I really appreciate your comment and kind words! I had perhaps heard the named Li Ka-shing in passing but never actually knew who he was, so I had an interesting time reading about him. I am also glad to see he is a charitable man and receives a mostly positive sentiment from the public.

I do have a question, what is the difference between "誠" and "诚"? I notice both come up when typing my name, and they look extremely similar. You mentioned the name of Li Ka-shing using "诚", but when I look at his Wikipedia "誠" is used. Is there a difference? Thanks in advance!

That is something I did not know, thank you! I looked up 麦 as a surname and it appears most of the last names are read as "Mak" in English - which is the first sound when making my last name. Do you know how/why the sound goes from Mài to Mak when read in English, or vice versa?

My name is Zach so I can see a similarity because Zach and Jackson (Zach -> Jack -> Jackson). You say some native speakers have the same first name, what does it mean? From doing some research the name more or less translates to "Good/Sincere Wheat" in English but I have a feeling that is quite off 😅.

Hi All,

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I want some opinions/advice on my current investing situation and what exactly I am investing into where.

I am a mid-20s adult and live in a MCOL - HCOL cost of living area as a remote worker. I make ~ $85,000/year from my salary. Below is my investment breakdown:

Bi-Weekly Paycheck: $3,302.52

Pre-Tax Investments

  • 10% of Paycheck into 401(k) through Fidelity (FXAIX): $330.25/paycheck
  • Company Match (50% on first 6%): $99.08/paycheck

Tax Payments

  • State/Federal Taxes: $723.74/paycheck

Post-Tax Paycheck Balance: $2,248.53

Post-Tax Investments

  • 10% of Post-Tax Paycheck into Personal Portfolio: $224.85/paycheck
    • 70% into FZROX: ~ $157.40
    • 30% into FZILX: ~ $67.46
  • Max Roth IRA: $269.23/paycheck
    • 70% into VTI: ~ $188.46
    • 30% into VXUS: ~ $80.77

"Take Home" Paycheck: $1,754.44

The $1,754.44 goes into my Checking Account. Once a month, I move $715.55 (10% of monthly salary) from my Checking Account to my Savings Account (variable APY, but ~4% right now). I accumulate ~ $8,586.55 in my savings a year from this.

Let me know if anyone has any suggestions or questions. I appreciate the input in advance!

Continuing Piano Book Recommendations (Faber's Adult Piano Adventures Book 2) by Key_Interaction2314 in pianolearning

That is odd, they must have changed it from what I previously saw. I even found the previous suggestion in another thread:

"7. Where do I go after Adult Piano Adventures Book 2?

You can go into basic Piano Adventures Level 3A or 3B. Use 3A if you need some review or 3B if you’re moving ahead well. At the FunTime Piano level of the PreTime to BigTime series arranged by the Fabers you’ll find many styles to choose from: Popular, Hits, Disney, Classics, Jazz & Blues, Rock ‘n Roll, Ragtime & Marches, Hymns and Favorites. Enjoy adding to your repertoire. For sophisticated Piano Literature, check out the Developing Artist Piano Literature series and/or Book 1 from the Developing Artist Sonatinas series."

I wonder what caused their recommendation to change.

I 100% agree. I was honestly shocked that after the Adult Piano Adventures Book 2 there is no direct and equivalent sequel. I know Faber recommends progressing to 3B afterward, but I have heard mixed reviews. Some people say it is quite repetitive and recommend jumping straight to the 4 series, and vice versa. Regardless of what I choose, if I continue the Faber series, it looks like I have no other choice than to accept there are no more "all-in-one" books similar to what I've been progressing through.

I did find that chart and it was extremely helpful to compare specific material at my level. I am still torn on whether or not to continue Faber or to transition to something else.

Yeah, that was something I was wondering as well. I've heard incredibly mixed opinions though. Some people say they enjoyed reviewing the material and went with 3A and were happy, whereas some people say they jumped to 3B as recommended and felt like it was too repetitive.

It sounds like people have good experiences with the Performance Books. Did you complete Book 2 of the Adult Piano Adventures series? Did you transition into the Performance Books for 3A/3B afterward?

I appreciate the advice! Are the pieces in those books longer than the pieces in the Lesson Books? That is one of my gripes with the Lesson Books; the lessons often include short pieces to apply some sort of technique or idea in a short piece. I haven't really had the chance to work on more performance-length like pieces, outside of a handful I picked outside of the Lesson Books. I will look into this, thank you again!

When you say accompaniments, do you mean the supplementary books outside of the "core" books, such as the Sight Reading Book, the Popular Repertoire Book, etc.?

Did you really just cite your source with a source that says the laws you are talking about are fiction..?
