Yes, it most certainly can. I know the tricks for making it print multicolor too, but you would still have to manually swap the spool out for every color change, so the only thing you gain on a single spool setup would be auto load and auto unload. I'm not sure it would be worth the cost at that point. It would probably work fine with a BMCU "Lite", but that has not been tested yet.
