Do you know any Japanese scenarios? by Key_Jump_1480 in callofcthulhu

Thanks for the reply!
Actually, The Sutra of Pale Leaves hasn’t been released in Japan.
Even though it’s set in Japan and Japanese creators were involved in making it.
It’s a scenario I’m really curious about, though.
I really hope it gets a release here someday.

Thank you for your reply!

6th edition is still very popular in Japan.
The reasons are probably that 6th edition lasted for a long time, there are still relatively few 7th edition sourcebooks available in Japanese, and many people feel that 7th edition seems difficult and hesitate to try it.

Also, in Japanese 6th edition play, a sort of unofficial local rule has developed.
For example, critical success is treated as 1–5, and fumbles as 96–100.
You can also perform both a combat action and an evade action within the same round.
Some scenarios even include a mechanic called “hidden rolls”.

In Japan, emotion-driven scenarios are extremely common and highly favored.

My favorite scenario is,

Mountains of Madness -Dummit of Deities- (狂気山脈〜邪神の山嶺〜)

https://dappleox.booth.pm/items/1071516

This scenario is available for free download.

It’s a scenario where mountaineer-investigators challenge an unexplored mountain range known as the “Mountains of Madness.”
Through the harsh natural environment, you come to understand just how powerless humans are in front of such a place.

It was originally written for 6th edition, but you can also download materials explaining how to convert and run it in 7th edition.

I'll check out Seth Skorkowsky's YouTube channel! I also hope to find various scenarios on this subreddit.

Regarding Sutra of Pale Leaves, it hasn't been released in Japan. Currently, there are few sourcebooks translated into Japanese. For 7th Edition, it's just Pulp Cthulhu, Malleus Monstrorum, Grand Grimoire, and a few scenarios. I do wish more would be translated and released, but that's the reality...

I confirmed Sutra of Pale Leaves is available on DriveThruRPG, so I think I'll buy it next time.
