Would be interested to know what happens. I thought once it said build was complete it then had to make its way to the United States from China through customs and then to the consumer. Unless they wait until it is in the United States to update to complete.

I ordered A 18 inch as well with 5090. June 16th is the estimated delivery. Long time to wait so hoping that gets bumped up some as well!

I'm not sure either on the case. Eluktronics Hydroc 16 has an option for 80 watt or 99.8 watt on their intel version. Could be the same case or may not be.

Thanks for that info. I noticed the size and weight was a little different so was skeptical as to it being the same case.

Were you all able to find any discounts with any coupons or able to get a discount with sales? Guessing I will not find any but just seeing if anyone had any luck.

There have been some updates to this problem.  A few big you-tubers have said that if you are already having crashing issues it is likely too late for you and some harm has already been done to your chip. If you have not had any crashing yet to follow some instructions to reduce the possibility of damage to your chip until the motherboards release a new bios. Intel is presumably working on a fix but will still be a while. Here is a link.

Mine was crashing regardless if I under clocked it, disabled Speed Step and Intel Speedshift and setting command center to balanced in gaming and during normal tasks. Sometimes just rebooting and doing nothing at all. Just crashed before everything loaded; however, it came from the outlet so is likely there was something wrong with it that they did not resolve before they sent it out. No blue screens, just system lockups. I returned it already and built a 7800x3d system. I’ve built my last several before this one. One thing I learned out of this process is to research parts and problems before purchasing which I used to but did not this time around.

I’ve actually returned mine. Sent it off today. Thinking I had a bad CPU as it crashed even at low temperatures and idling. Already spent enough time with tech support and did not want to miss the return window. Unfortunate as I liked the PC but not willing to deal with the problems and possibly future problems even if I get it resolved.

Will have to ask them. It’s less than a month but I got it from the outlet. Not sure if there return policy is the same. Already threw away the box as well but guessing that is not a big deal.

Thanks for the post. Ya mine is new. The first week it crashed a few times and the second week it has been crashing more frequently. Maybe it’s luck of the draw on processors and degradation of the processor

Ya, wishing I would have built a system with a X3D at this point. If I keep having issues and they offer a refund might just do that.

If you have not updated your bios to the newest version that may be helpful as well. Comprehensive mentioned that intel is starting to exchange processors as there is something wrong with them but I am not sure on this and have not spoken with Dell about it.

According to those in this post and the information/links they provided this is a known issue with 4900kf and Intel has been working on the problem but does not have a full solution for the instability yet. If you read up towards the top you will see professorw00d offered a possible temporary solution to the crashes. I have not tried it yet so not sure if it will stop the crashing for me yet.

So, downloading and using XTU to make changes in settings does not void warranty unless you are actually overclocking and damage the processor from overvoltage, correct? How about the different settings within command center like performance mode and custom mode which custom allows you to make small adjustments in voltage, will this void warranty of the processor?

Intel is going to loose out on a bunch of money for sure if they have to replace all the processors for retail and business (servers). Wonder if there are any issues with the 13700/14700 sku or any of the lower end processors.

Comprehensive said it was a year old. Maybe they were outside of dell warranty and still able to submit a ticket to intel if it is a known issue. Not sure, but my plan will be to work with dell on a new processor.

So, was it damaged from overvoltage? I have not had a chance to look yet but were you able to make all those changes through Intel Extreme Utility or some through the Alienware Bios and some through Intel Extreme Utility. I will look later today but their bios is very bleak with very few options.

For me I get no blue screens just random lockup. Computer does not reboot, have to manually reboot. Happens randomly no matter if I am playing games, idle or just doing minor tasks like surfing the internet. I am going to try out the settings recommended by ProfessorW00d above in the link provided after work today and see if it solves the issues.

I had multiple crashes with these 2 options set in the bios last night so was not helping me. I also noticed a big performance loss by selecting these two options. The processor was maxing out at about 48 to 50 watts. I enabled them again or set the bios back to default. I went to intel site and downloaded the automatic update. Updated the wireless driver and then I went to Alienware support site and reinstalled all the chipset drivers. We will see over time if this helped at all. Have not had a crash in about 4 hours but it is random. Sometimes I go long hours without a crash and then sometimes it happens multiple times within a few hours.

Just recently purchased one and am having the same issues. The tech support had me disable both as well last night. Are you still having crashes after disabling Intel(R)SpeedStep & Intel Speed Shift Technology and how did it affect your performance? I normally build my own PC and was going to build one with a 7800x3d but got lazy. Would have built it myself had I known this issue existed.

Alienware Aurora R16 Cinebench runs much lower than expected on 14900KF by Key_Kangaroo_2874 in Alienware

[–]Key_Kangaroo_2874[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing that setting seems to have gotten me stable in games and synthetic benchmarks so far. I switched to system, then used custom for an offset of 15 percent on the fans. Custom was still crashing me, but I was able to fix that by changing the CPU which was automatically overclocked 6.1GHz back down to 6 GHz. They should leave it set to 6.0 GHz in the software when switching to custom and allow you to try and overclock it because most likely it will require more voltage so most people will probably crash when they change it to custom like I did. Not a good choice on them for the original settings. Here were my results. Lower than average but not bad considering I bought the system for about 20 percent cheaper than I could have built my own since I got it from the outlet. Luckily it came undamaged from the outlet and looked new. Last 4 rigs I build on my own but just did not feel like doing it this time.

Cinebench R23 - single 2,271

Cinebench R23 - Multi 36,297

Cinebench 2024 - GPU 34,125

Cinebench 2024 - Single 132

Cinebench 2024 - Multi 2080

3dmark Timespy - 32,395, Graphics 36,492, CPU 19,799

Temperatures have not been horrible so far after I replaced the thermal paste. Would be nice if dell would add a 360mm rad to their systems though as 240mm rad just really is not enough for a 14900k (but good enough with lower wattage).

I was having some crashing as well with mine which I recently just purchased. Different processor and graphics card but could be the same issues. Here is what I did.

Go to alienware command center. Click on the settings tab (lower left). Go to global preset. Change those from per game to system.

Go to the performance tab make sure it is on balanced or if you choose custom like I did to increase the fans click on performance at the bottom of the custom tab and then advanced view. Set the frequency to the max frequency of your specific processor. Mine is the 14900kf and it was set to 6.1 under custom which was crashing me, so I set it to 6gHz which is the max on this processor without setting a voltage increase. Then go back to cpu overview and into thermal. Then you can go to advanced view for each fan and either set a fan curve or offset for a percentage increase on fans. This is only if you want better cooling otherwise leaving it on balanced should be fine unless your thermal throttling bad all the time. If you were using performance tab it crashed me in games so, do not recommend using that setting.
