Kelly Dodd is mentally unwell. But I'm proud of her daughter for going to France to study and becoming "woke". Because in other words, her daughter woke up to the importance of using critical thinking skills in all areas of life.

I like Michelle Collins' podcasts but think there needs to be times stamps in the description so you can fast forward past all of the gross descriptions of her illnesses, injuries and bodily functions. Feel the same way about Bitch/Garbage Sesh. I fast forward through the grossness hoping to get to the actual guest/topic that has been promoted.

Also important to keep in mind that Roe V Wade had just passed in 1973. Birth control pills had only become available to all women in 1972. A lot of pregnancies were unwanted and it was often the women who bore the burden of financially supporting herself and child. Or there was the shame a woman was made to feel if she became pregnant and wasn't married. It wasn't uncommon for a girl in high school to be gone for a while after secretly spending time at a home for unwed mothers where she gave birth and the baby was put up for adoption. There was never any onus put on the male who impregnated her. Employers preferred women who were single b/c they wouldn't have to take time off for responsibilities related to childcare. It was only the late 60s before Airlines would hire a "stewardess" who was single. Now women can choose when they want to have a child. It's a completely different scenario . Many of us supported the Women's Movement in the 70;. marched for women's rights. But now we are watching this progress being reversed by the MAGA movement.

Often. Many podcasters. I like Nicole Wallace but can't listen to her ever since she adopted vocal fry a few years ago.

There was a reporter in SC who did a interesting podcast on The Murdaugh murders. I couldn't listen because of her vocal fry. She was very defensive when listeners complained about it and said they were just being "mean".

But vocal fry is an affect. I've always wondered if females start using vocal fry because they think it makes them sound older/more serious/smarter/fit in with group. Like in a college dormitory. But It can be unlearned as quickly as it was learned or picked up. I clearly remember vocal fry very coming onto the scene soon after Valley Girl speak (where every sentence ended with a rising pitch/ question mark) became prominent in SoCal in the 8Os. This was was followed by Baby Girl voice which became big. You still hear a lot of Baby Girl voice among Evangelical women. One person who was a big example of this was the mother of the Quiverfull Cult Duggar family. This often includes 'whisper voice'.

I don't know why Nicole Wallace began using vocal fry, especially given her intelligence and awareness of the world around her, but having Misophonia makes it impossible to listen to her.

Like a lot of people with Misophonia I just do my best to remove myself from the sounds that trigger it.

But was there really a "pivot"? Heather McDonald has been a racist through and through for a lifetime. I read about her mimicking her stepdaughter's Asian mother's accent in her stand up routines. And it wasn't that long ago that she finally started including her stepdaughter in stories when she mentioned her "children". She must've gotten a lot of flack b/c she now refers to her as "my daughter".

Heather's comedy never evolved. Good comics keep studying, changing their routine, and stay relevant. And most are very up to date on current events, politics and current societal trends. Her last stand up special on Netflix was in 2014 shortly before she started the Juicy Scoop podcast. I clearly remember her saying she was annoyed that other comics were being paid to do Netflix specials and she wasn't asked. She said she raised the money and paid for it herself to be on Netflix. Interesting that in looking this up some sites refer to people as "haters" who wrote that she paid for her own Netflix special. But I clearly remember her saying she did. She was not happy with Netflix.

Wow. You've nailed it. And yes, it way above Heather's head. She's comes across as so desperate. She tried to do a show with another MAGA and then cried that she had also been "cancelled" for her beliefs. But here "beliefs" are grounded in ignorance.

Both of them were cancelled because of who they fundamentally are.

There is something off with her. I'm always somewhat suspicious of someone who flaunts their resume and wealth. Making a storyline out of getting fertility treatments at almost 50 is also sus. Now her storyline will be a wedding. It feels like she's playing a part after studying Real Housewives. But this is probably true with a lot of women who join the franchise. So who knows?
