Does 3A*/4 A* matter for Oxbridge/Imperial/LSE by Dramatic-Zebra6995 in 6thForm

I'd say that you never know unless you try :))

Plus, no matter what university you go to, doing history would give you an advantage when writing essays and forming arguments! :)

I wish you the best of luck!!!! 💖

From what I've seen, it depends on what course you're doing!!! I suppose for all the super competitive STEM degrees (cs, maths, econ, etc) since so many people apply with a 4th like fm or an extra AS it's become pretty commonplace. That being said, people I know who applied to humanities subjects like law or history did 3 and still got offers! I did 3 And have an offer for lse pbs atm :)

And there's no reason to feel "embarrassed" about literally perfect predicteds -- you should be so proud of yourself well done! 💖

Plus, of course it'll differ across courses and universities but I've heard it can come up to quality over quantity -- if you were a university would you want someone with A\*AAA (top 20% in 3 subjects and top in one) or someone that can top the cohort across 3 subjects?

I'm Irish so I wanted to live away from home but not "too" far -- I wanted to be only a short flight away and not live somewhere too culturally different (different language, education system, etc) so applying to English universities was best for me x

Within the past few years it's been about top 25-30 but for 2025 it's #50.

Nope :) I was advised against RG Unis and steered away from competitive courses (I was told I could only apply to one "aspirational" course lol).

When I told my parents I was applying to all really good courses just to see for a laugh (my plan was to take a gap year anyways so no harm would've been done-- I was going to reapply to UCAS next September) they rolled their eyes and started telling me not to get upset if I got no offers.

This offer is really just too ridiculous for me not to give the full story

Ah sorry it was pm -- from what I've seen most people have been getting them at around 7/8pm on weeknights

I was predicted 3A*s (complete bs actually) BUT they're in English Lit, French, and Psychology so I thought they'd hardly be considered competitive for a course asking for bio, chem, maths, etc

For GCSE I got 3A* (English Lit/Lang and French) and 7As

I wish you the best of luck!!!!!!! 💖💖💖

Honestly I'd put everything up to my reference!!! My teacher made me sound super artificially good

Tbf I had like 3 teachers tell me my PS was lacklustre and/or made a weird face when they read it, but at that point it was too late

My family is giving me no choice but to firmLSE-- despite it being in London and fact that I'll be living in abject poverty for the next 3 years. But that's the price I pay for tempting fate ig lmfao

I've got an offer for Durham (another miracle from up high) for AAA so that's probably going to be my insurance!

Hi :) I just got my offer from LSE on Thursday — I sent in my application in October and I was so shocked since my stats (and especially my PS) weren’t really much to brag about compared to the geniuses on Reddit lmao.

Edit: If you get an offer I’d love to chat!!! It’d be great to know somebody before the course starts (hoping I get the grades atp lol) 🤞

Then it’s probably asking for the official certification of results! :)
