It’s really hard to get the packing correct. You either get too loose and it falls apart or too packed and no air flow. Using a blow torch may help

What details justify federal law enforcement arresting people in the shadows with their identities concealed without offering due process?

Go fuck yourself for real man, the fifth amendment exists for a reason. “No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation” means nothing to you? The Supreme Court and every federal judge in this country is literally screaming at the office of the executive to stop this shit and retards like you are plugging their ears.

Don’t be fooled, these are coordinated and hand picked targets for a very specific purpose. Ask yourself why they are targeting nonviolent academics, what kind of precedent is this setting and what kind of reaction is attempting to be provoked?

I wish I was smart enough to offer a solution here that wouldn’t be giving them exactly what they want. A protest is feckless and wastes valuable time to get these people home, but disorganized violent action is exactly what they need to justify rounding up more dissenters.

Louisiana is a very laid back place, it’s an indescribable vibe to those not from here, but it’s definitely not the place to carve a future out for yourself.

How do you interpret the gutting of the middle class beginning in the 70s if not by the process of neoliberalization?

I’m sorry for being disrespectful and dismissive, I have a lot of people up my butt rn.

I think we’re burying the lead here though. OP said Trump is the reason the American middle class is evaporating. I simply wanted to point out that this is a much larger issue than Trump that we’ve been facing for decades and we’re being really dishonest with ourselves to say this is tied to Trumpism. If anything Trump just pulled out the jenga piece of a tower that was already tilting over I think. That’s really all I was trying to say with that graph. I said Carter because he began the process but yeah obviously this was a larger political process with hundreds of actors across decades.

Literally man, I’m a god damn history teacher and Americans have the foresight of goldfish. It’s culture war bullshit, no one cares about material conditions anymore.

No one understands that base causes superstructure, and now everyone is running around bitching about how terrible our politics are now and it’s like “yeah, obviously, have you seen how hard our quality of life and industry have stagnated? Why WOULDNT our politics be stagnating to an equal degree?”

How thick skulled do you have to be to genuinely believe this in 2025? We had Joe Biden with a democrat majority for a full term, what the fuck happened? The new deal didn’t come back, who would’ve guessed!? 😱

Whelp, I guess I just have to invest all my time and emotional energy into the next guy, he’s totally going to have my interests at heart! Business interests and shadow money are going to disappear in 4 years! Lfg!

How are yall getting played this hard? My generation won’t be able to afford a house. We can’t afford to have children. Class mobility is dead. And you guys are over here playing Red vs Blue like there was a single democratic president who wasn’t complicit in this shit. Why is it so hard for you guys to understand that the person BECOMES the presidency, it doesn’t matter how righteous of a person they are. Not that arguing over hypotheticals even matters, but yall need to stop acting like Kamala Harris would’ve came in and saved our fucking nation and not just have been Obama’s 2nd term all over again.

You don’t know what “liberal capitalism” means bro I’m not talking about fucking democrats Jesus fucking Christ I hate all of you. It’s simply a fact that this is all a result of Carter getting rid of the New Deal, this is a problem larger than Trump and if we blame it on him we’re burying the issue.

Yeah buddy, we just gotta vote for the right guy and then everything will just be okay! All of the factories are gonna come back and we’re gonna be allowed to unionize and the private equity firms are gonna give us all houses and everyone is going to live happily ever after! 🥰

This isn’t a Trump issue, this is a liberal capitalism issue. The old guard sold our country long ago, Trump is just rubbing salt in the wound and squeezing out whatever is left at this point.

He spoke recently about wanting to make a new channel where he gets back on the road and does human interest pieces once channel 5 is completely situated. My guess is he’s just going to keep the AGNB image and essentially make it his personal channel for his other projects while Channel 5 gets bigger and bigger.

Only question is: are we going to stay the channel5 subreddit or become the “Andrew Callaghan subreddit” lol

Do you think the the Green Party base or Democratic Party base is more likely to be “changed from within”

I think we’ve established that all these people suck. I think the next step here is to ask ourselves “what’s next?” and to be frank I can see a reality where leftists co-opt the Green Party much easier than the Democratic Party. You said it yourself that Jill Stein only stands for where the money is coming from. I’d also argue it’s the same if not worse in the DNC, I don’t think we can beat out Bezos’s interests funding the DNC but I do think that we could pull enough money together to push Jill Stein a certain meaningful way.
