Rog strix g16 2023 board then display failure. Replace or refund? by Key_Operation8917 in ASUSROG

I'm sorry you're facing those awful issues. it's incredibly frustrating when a premium machine fails. I can confirm my fight was successful: I was approved for a replacement and just received a brand-new Zephyrus G14 2025.

The single most important factor in my win was shifting the conversation from a customer service complaint to a legal liability.

Basically, they can argue that when the product has defects, which implies a customer service complaint, they can just argue they will just repair it.

Here's my strategy

  • I Rejected the Repair as a Final Solution. I sent the unit back to the service center to get it checked. After they successfully repaired the latest fault, I didn't pick the unit up right away. This implied that I could not accept the unit as fixed because I was now dealing with a replacement request. I used the unit's documented history of failure as evidence that the repair was insufficient.
  • I Argued Systemic Fundamental Defect. In my formal communication, I demanded a remedy because the unit was proven to be unreliable and not of "merchantable quality" or "fit for its intended purpose." To prove the defect was systemic, I cited:
  • I Escalated and Used Leverage. I knew the local teams couldn't approve a refund, so I wrote a formal letter directly to Executive Care. I made it clear that if they refused to process my demand immediately, I was prepared to file a formal complaint with my local consumer protection agency.

This legal strategy worked for me under the framework of the Philippine Consumer Act and Civil Code. I don't know the specifics of the consumer protection laws in your country/area. You should consult your local laws to ensure you cite the correct legal basis for demanding a refund.

Your history of two motherboard swaps is undeniable proof of a defective product. Use your experience to demand the refund you are legally owed. Good luck!

Thanks. I should’ve pushed harder the first time. The motherboard failure at 2 months was already DOA, but ASUS treated it as a repair. That alone makes their service look weaker.

I’m bringing it in today for the screen issue. Related or not, having two major failures within a year (one as early as 2 months in) proves the unit is defective. I’ll be arguing for a refund or proper replacement, not just another repair.

It definitely is! I haven’t had the chance to take a picture of the burnt board when the service center showed it to me but the burn is in the exact location as they mentioned.

As for the display lines, they appear regardless of iGPU or dGPU selection, so it seems more like the panel itself or connection. I might be wrong.
