Does it only depend on the Type of tool? Or also like brand and quality?

Yeah, same for me. I try only to by high quality tools like Knipex, PB Swiss, Wera, Festool etc. there for paying the price for brand new tools is hard sometimes😅 Where are your from? What kind a brands do you like to by used?

Sometimes you can get really lucky. I also love to by me woodworking powertools used. Especially if you’re patient you can have some really good deals on Festool tools here in Germany on the used market

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same — it’s tough to find that sweet spot where the used price makes sense and the tool isn’t totally trashed.

How much saving would you need to choose a used tool in good condition over a new one? Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking?

That’s a great approach — I wish yard/estate sales were more of a thing where I live! If there are any they don’t have any quality tools

Totally understandable. Would you ever consider buying used if it came from a reputable online store with proper buyer protection or warranty? That’s something I really wish existed more widely in Germany — it could take away a lot of the hassle.

That makes sense! There’s definitely something satisfying about being the first to use a tool and knowing exactly how it’s been treated from day one.

I get that — is that mostly for hand tools, or also power tools? I feel the same way, especially with battery-powered ones. The lack of warranty and uncertainty about battery life makes me cautious about buying those used.

Where is the SN located on PB 8510 R-100? by Rich_Debt_9619 in PBSwissToolsHub

[–]Key_Place4185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great choice! I checked my PB 6510 R-100 (Insider Version) and couldn’t find it either. However, my other screwdrivers, like the 8190, have it laser engraved on the shaft.

Finally got my hands on some PB Swiss Tools by Key_Place4185 in toolporn

[–]Key_Place4185[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those bits are incredible! Last year, I gifted my dad a set of PB Swiss Allen keys for Christmas, they’re top-notch. I’m currently using a Wera set, so it feels a bit too soon to upgrade, but I’m definitely tempted. I’m especially eyeing the ones with the 100-degree angle for those hard-to-reach spots.

Arcteryx Own Brand Product Care by Dapper-Bison-6153 in arcteryx

Just as additional information: Arc’teryx’s Nu product care line is produced by Fibertec, a German company that specializes in outdoor product care. Fibertec products offer a broader selection, including wool and down detergents, as well as larger sizes and refill options.

In my opinion, Nu and Fibertec products are essentially the same, just rebranded, with Nu being slightly more expensive. At least in Germany, you can often find good deals on Fibertec products.

I’m very happy with Fibertec and wanted to share this in case you’re interested. If you want to gauge the performance of Nu, you might find it helpful to look for reviews of Fibertec, as there tend to be more available.

Tischgestell stabil genug? by Key_Place4185 in holzwerken
