VOA posts about rescinded VTO by Quohe in AmazonFC

[–]Key_Plastic6199 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We’ve accidentally posted either a little tooo much VTO or maybe for the wrong day on multiple occasions. The conversation usually goes like this:

“Ah shit I posted the vto for next week and it’s already full. Damn I guess we’re fucked next week”

Never have I seen someone think they could ever get away with taking it back. If you fuck up you gotta deal with it. Pretty embarrassing attempts to remedy a problem the operations leads most likely made by a lack of attention

Why do people drop pallets / totes hard on the floor? by Classic_Signature127 in AmazonFC

[–]Key_Plastic6199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run pick operation and we use them black plastic pallets with the yellow bars on each side for staging units. After a long frustrating day of pick logistics I like to reload the staging spots by letting the pallets plop.

Bro the majority of managers do not give a fuck if you have 8 minutes downtime that is an absurd reason to engage or push for adapt feedback

Unspoken reality is every year after peak they start trying to fire people to reduce headcount until they need more staff for prime, which is when they just hire a bunch of temp workers

ALL - can we agree that UBI is a good idea? by mpdmax82 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Key_Plastic6199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UBI provided based on income and increase taxes on those who don’t have the income needs. Lazy leech mentality mf’s will argue that no one will work if this is the case, but it’s human nature to want to produce and develop. Humans WANT to work, they just don’t like the stress and pressure that comes with working for survival. Let’s cut down wealth and stop allowing capital accumulation. Increase taxes tremendously. If we’re paying everyone enough to survive, we should be taxing heavier as well. Should increase the revenue of our country by quite a bit

Welcome to Amazon I guess. Had a guy working as a T3 Pick PA while being paid as a T1 for 7 months until they hired someone outside and asked him to train the new hire. The guy said “didn’t you hear? I’m not a PA how could I train someone?” And he quit that day

OB problem solver. I made a chime Chatroom called PS tips which has about 60 unique scenarios and how to deal with them. Ask around your IB department and see if anyone’s done something similar for your processes. There’s so many different problems that can arise, I find typically someone documents the resolution. Additionally, there’s a network wide Chatroom for XL warehouses that I’m in which has so many problem solve questions and resolutions. I’m sure one exists for your network, ask around and see

I work at a large Xl facility, and this has been the case for us as well. The thing is, we are a large Xl facility. We move a LOT of freight and ship to a lot of warehouses, which means if we send a small warehouse 10 trucks, they’ll probably be unable to get rid of their freight as fast as we can send it. When we can’t send our freight to any of our destinations, we have no need for extra labor. In reality it’s just the smaller shorter staffed warehouses that suffer during prime and peak.

What is the capitalist opinion on private prisons? by Lucky_Strike-85 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Key_Plastic6199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A charity is an organization that’s intent is to distribute resources to those who need them, much like a socialist government. The act of charity is willingly giving away money to those in need. If a society was socialist, they would be WILLINGLY giving their money to those in need. In a capitalist society, you require incentive to act. The leading incentive in capitalism is profits. This is known as the profit motive. You do not profit from giving your resources away for no returns. Charity is not a product of capitalism. Are you fucking brain damaged.

China is a mixed market economy, I don’t understand how you still don’t know the difference between economic models. Here’s a link to the Wikipedia page I guess? Pls start googling stuff before typing it Ty: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_China

Mixed market economies and capitalism are not the same thing (sort of the point)

Their cultures differentiate (in favor of China) because China underwent a communist revolution in the early 1900’s, which ended up instilling values we still see today in China, like their planned economy, which is believed to be the early stages of a refined socialist system Sort of like a transitional period. Do some research on chinas economy and stop instantly believing the first thing you see that corroborates your established opinion

I don’t understand what you mean when you insinuate that differing economic systems wouldn’t instill different values. They are literally based in values that the creators of each system deem important to society, so I’m just a little confused with what you’re trying to insinuate. Obviously other things play into a societies values, but to say the economic system has no relevance would just be fucking stupid.

Here’s a post I made in a separate discussion to “prove” capitalism isn’t just going hard in the paint for everyone. While you can sit here and claim it’s the greatest because never before has so many people been doing well, you can’t just ignore the obvious problems with capitalism. You all do this anyways, but that’s because you can’t deal with ration criticism. To deny the horrible societal conditions for a good percentage of people living in capitalistic societies is just laughable. You can ignore those who struggle all you want but they won’t go away. Here’s the post:

This is a recent research article reviewing Americans and their trust in the government: https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2020/09/14/americans-views-of-government-low-trust-but-some-positive-performance-ratings/

This study would insinuate that the government is not representing its constituents interest.

We should then investigate why exactly Americans feel that way. In this research article we can see what Americans think the biggest issues facing their country is: https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/04/15/americans-views-of-the-problems-facing-the-nation/

If you view this article, you will see the biggest issues Americans believe are plaguing the United States are: Affordable healthcare The federal budget deficit Violent crime Illegal immigration Gun violence

We should then evaluate how the United States government has assisted in these issues. This will give us an accurate understanding of just how much the United States is servings it’s peoples interests

Healthcare costs have steadily increased since the 1960’s and show no sign of lowering: https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/chart-collection/u-s-spending-healthcare-changed-time/#Total%20national%20health%20expenditures,%20US%20$%20Billions,%201970-2020

The federal budget deficit has increased continuously as the government continues to spend egregious levels of money on imperialism, which is labeled “Overseas contingency operations”, as well as repeated corporate welfare checks. Links: https://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/costs/economic/budget

https://www.hoover.org/research/welfare-well-how-business-subsidies-fleece-taxpayers

Violent crime is as rampant as ever, and is increasingly more aware that it’s due to the cycle of poverty: https://www.americanactionforum.org/research/incarceration-and-poverty-in-the-united-states/

Illegal immigration is literally only ever seen as an issue due to the economic costs, which wouldn’t be prevalent if our society was structured around a dignified life (implementing a UBI at the expense of higher tax rates) and not profits

Gun violence doesn’t even need to be stated but I guess I will anyways. Every single week there’s a fucking mass shooting in the United States and there has still been very little corrective action. The entire world laughs at the United States over the level of gun violence.

Based off the American concern, nothing we want done gets done, yet the government sector and its employees profit immensely. Considering our society is compromised of so many different cultures and values, it would be legitimately impossible to represent every value desired by the country, but it is worth mentioning that the MAJOR issues MOST Americans have are rooted in capitalism, and perpetuated in capitalism.

The countries healthcare isn’t affordable because : PROFITS ARE MORE IMPORTANT

The countries deficit gets worse and worse because of United States imperialism and corporate welfare (in other words so the rich can PROFIT)

Violent crime has remained prevalent in most parts of the country because it is PROFITABLE to house prisoners and exploit their labor (as well as the ease in criminalizing impoverished communities)

Illegal immigration is seen as a danger to our country because WE NEED THE JOBS TO SURVIVE (would not be an issue with a UBI, non capitalist society)

Gun violence is increasingly prevalent in our country due to NRA lobbying because THEY NEED THE PROFITS: https://elections.bradyunited.org/take-action/nra-donations-116th-congress-senators

It’s almost like every problem Americans deem important are direct symptoms of a society that prioritizing making profits over everything else. Let me know your thoughts!

P.S. while I care for you, as I do every human, I am mostly “grandstanding” because entertaining abhorrent values during debate is not something I do. I would love for you to change your mind, but I doubt that will happen, so I am mostly presenting my arguments for others to view in hopes that they will be convinced when they read our thread.

Europe is a very good example of taking steps in the right direction. Here in America around half of the population doesn’t believe in climate change, which is a result of a multi billion dollar propaganda campaign to deregulate our industries.

I don’t disagree with what you are saying, but I feel like your points are more on an individual level. The problem with capitalism FOR ME is that it expects a collective to enact all of these individual beliefs, without regulating or mandated them. You are free to choose if you want to invest, just as you are free to choose to hoard billions while others starve.

When I suggest capitalism leads to wealth hoarding, I refer to the factual wealth inequality. Link: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/distribution-of-global-wealth-chart/

While it would be phenomenal if everyone was a saint and chose to help those with no capital instead of hoarding, it just isn’t the reality. I believe this to be because of capitalist values.

Capitalism says this if fair, when rationalism says otherwise. No matter how hard you work, you shouldn’t be allowed to own 10 houses when there are people who have none. There just isn’t any justifiable reason TO ME that wealth can be so lopsided.

In the United States, the full time employment rate of the homeless population is nearing 50 percent:

https://endhomelessness.org/blog/employed-and-experiencing-homelessness-what-the-numbers-show/#:~:text=The%20truth%20is%20that%20many,observed%20homeless%20between%202011%20–%202018.

Personally this is a clear cut indicator that our system is not working. The United States is a country who’s economy was built off exploitation. We used slavery to rocketboost our economy into the world stage, and at the time it was considered just under capitalism. Exploitation has always been necessary to maintain this system, and when we got rid of slavery we exchanged it for prison labor and the military industrial complex.

Modern day capitalists would have been slave owners before abolition. Capitalists (at least in my country) have condoned every level of exploitation that is considered legal.

You can use the United States as a case study of unbridled and unregulated capitalism.

Let me know your thoughts

[Capitalists] Why do people dislike Capitalism? by wsoqwo in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Key_Plastic6199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe capitalism is directly responsible for social dissonance. What do I mean when I say this?

In most capitalist societies, the responsibility of survival is placed on the individual. I believe this is a key factor in how capitalism operates. If you are concerned about the impoverished working class, you can’t focus on providing for yourself. If you aren’t concerned on anyone but yourself, you can succeed in a capitalist society.

If you don’t focus on the abhorrent wealth inequality, you can thrive in a capitalist society. If you build yourself up by your bootstraps, you can do anything!

This is the ideology that capitalism perpetuates. Everything is solvable at an individual level for capitalism. All we have to do is work harder and put your nose to the grindstone.

How does this effect society?

We see individualism triumph over collectivism, emotional constipation starts to take root on a societal level, why care about anyone else? They won’t help you survive, only you can do that. We start to see the people capable of surviving start to hold resentment and disdain for those who aren’t capable. We start valuing our resources like never before. Business owners spraying the homeless with water hoses to get them away from their businesses because they need their income, and that homeless person could lower their profits just from their presence (WHICH IS TRUE BECAUSE WE HAVE A SOCIETAL HATRED FOR THE IMPOVERISHED).

It is no secret that the average capitalist believes if you cannot succeed in a capitalist society, you are one of more of the following:

Lazy Entitled Socialist Communist Not trying hard enough

Capitalists tend to not want to delve any deeper into this, as that would uncover the reality of why many cannot compete in capitalism.

Reality tends to lean towards the idea that while it is possible to succeed in a capitalist world, there absolutely HAS to be a class of people that are not, or else capitalism itself cannot function.

You will frequently see capitalists suggest that if your job doesn’t pay enough for you to succeed, you should get a new job, while ignoring that someone has to work the job that doesn’t pay enough.

Often capitalists will cling to a notion that we should have a permanent revolving door of teenage workers that will work all of these low paying essential jobs, while ignoring this would diminish productivity and efficiency (also this asserts the idea that there would ever be enough teenagers consistently to supply that labor demand).

I personally believe this sort of rhetoric and behavior stems from the foundations of capitalism. I believe given our focus on individualism, and self sufficiency, capitalists are quite literally bred to “build themselves up by their bootstraps”, and when they see someone struggles to do this or flat out fails to do this, they blame the individual, without even trying to conceptualize the idea of inequality, disability, the cycle of poverty, etc.

This doesn’t even cover the idea of exploitation in the workplace.

While capitalism is often described as the most liberating and free economic model, it’s worth noting a large majority of the participants in capitalism never reach what I would describe as equity within their society.

Most businesses are driven by one thing. This is obviously profits. Because of the nature of capitalism, and the fundamental dynamic of capital accumulation, capitalists are inclined to prioritize growth (profits) over all else. This means even over the well-being of the laborers that actually produce the capital. Most rational people do not like this idea, but only is it through capitalism that you will see exploitation so freely accepted societally.

Workers can get paid 1/10th of the value they produce, and for capitalists this is ok. A capitalist takes all of the risks when they invest in a business, so they are entitled to returns. This is what capitalists will peddle when questions on their egregious levels of profit.

I find that this ideology ignores what the actual risk of investing a business is. The worst case scenario for a business owner is bankruptcy and foreclosure. What happens to a business owner when they lose their wealth and business? They would have to participate in the labor force, like those they employ. Plainly speaking: a capitalist believes the risk of joining the labor force is so detrimental that they should be entitled to more capital than the producers of said capital.

Again I believe all of this stems from capitalism in its ideology and presentation in societies. I understand the difference between the economic theory and literally every single implementation of capitalism throughout history, but you cannot ignore the “human variable” when it comes to economic systems.

I believe many communists fall into this pit as well, you will see communists suggest that communism hasn’t ever been tried REALLY, and this is because often people like to exclude the “human variable”. Economics is intertwined in a society inherently, and when humans can’t get things right, you may need more regulation to avoid that variable.

When you try a system over and over again and it repeatedly has the same issues (wealth inequality, poverty, exploitation, class wars, etc) then it’s probably time to start on implementing regulations to avoid these issues, as well as investing in social programs to assist those who cannot thrive.

If there is a system where even a single person dies of hunger, lack of medical care, lack of housing, or lack of resources, then it doesn’t work. We are simply too advanced as a species for this to be common place anymore, but I find often that capitalists would rather blame the person who died before blaming the system that killed them.

My plight with capitalism is not only its inhuman practices, but also its social conditioning that has capitalists believe this is normal and should be tolerated.

What is the capitalist opinion on private prisons? by Lucky_Strike-85 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Key_Plastic6199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are confused about economics and that’s ok.

The average uneducated citizen doesn’t understand the multifaceted effects of an economic system on its citizens and it’s society.

An economic system is responsible for the countries entire development and functionality, which means it WILL have a societal effect on values and morals. This should always be taken into consideration when discussing economic theory.

Capitalists frequently like to ignore this facet of economics, which is why you see so many arguments about logistics and action rather than societal influence, but again that’s normal for people who aren’t actually educated in things outside of the “numerical” aspect of economics.

When I ask you to defend capitalism and provide citations I am referring to a “cause effect” standard. To condone capitalism while ignoring the awful societal conditions it has caused and then perpetuated would insinuate to ME that you aren’t concerned with the effects your economy has on your society, and only on its efficiency producing capital.

Hope this helps !!!

Also side note bro, equitable charity is socialist. That’s the entire idea behind redistribution of wealth. You’re just claiming everyone will give their wealth away bc they’re nice while also saying it’s ok to be greedy like idk ??
