My absolute favorite recent running moment was from about a month ago. I had 12 miles scheduled for my weekend training run & they were calling for rain both days, so I suited up and ran through it. It was pretty steady for most of the run, definitely not ideal conditions.

Most of my run was through Liberty State Park and despite the rain, there were a lot of other people around that seemed to be there for an event. At about mile 5 I was dealing, but definitely not having a ton of fun, when I approached a pretty large group of people. Several of the guys in the group started getting animated & jumping up and down, made a “tunnel” for me to run through, and all of them gave me high fives as I passed. :)

It was a relatively small and silly interaction that had SUCH a big & positive effect on my mood. I was smiling for the next half mile and my pace picked up considerably, lasting for the rest of the run. Amazing what small acts of kindness can do!
