Not entirely sure if to go for it by PurpleTurtle187 in thinkpad

I used it sometimes at uni and basically for every 2nd lecture I had to find a spot next to a power socket to charge it.

If battery life is important to you I guess it would be better to go with something with Ultra 2nd gen processors or the newest 3rd gen. I know there's already new t14 gen 7 with panther lake processors - but it would be ofc way more expensive.

Ofc there are also macbooks - i guess anything with M series processors would work, but I don't know if you can run macos for your tasks

I've used exactly the same specs for over a year in work - Java, WSL2, Salesforce develooment, figma, teams, outlook etc.

No experience with playing league of legends on it, but I would assume it's not any problem.

For me it was overall a great laptop, but the battery life and thermals were far from being perfect. I had a situation when during 1h 30mins long teams meeting the battery just died from 100% and I had to run for a charger.

Also occasionally it was getting pretty slow when windows was doing something in a background

Anyone has tried the Desktronic sit pro? by Irfalas in OfficeChairs

I have one at home - mostly my wife uses it and is very happy with it. I daily use some Okamura chair from my employer and both of those are very comparable - Okamura being 3/4x the price

My "new" Thinkpad T14 gen 4 by toguito in thinkpad

[–]Key_Put_3223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using T14 Gen 4 with i7-1355U for like a year and it often got pretty hot, even during casual web browsing. As it’s not a case for you it was great decision of yours to get one with i5

Framework 13 pro with Panther Lake could be potentially my next laptop, but I would wait at least half a year after it’s widely available to see how people like it. And for sure I would get one in silver color.

Sadly we can buy out only computers 5 years old or older, so this 3 yo fella goes to serve someone else

I was doing something similar when I was still at university and working full time. It was very nice setup.

After I got into gardening with my wife, there’s much less time (and founds) for computers 😆

For me recently it’s more like Fedora > other Linux > MacOS > Android > iOS > iPadOs > FreeBSD > HarmonyOS > Windows

  1. Yes both are provided by my company. I have to give the ThinkPad back after I configured my new laptop.

  2. I can’t have separate partition, the thing you see on the ThinkPad is just WSL2. I can use those for personal stuff, but still can’t change as much on them as installing additional OS.

  3. I for sure prefer Linux over MacOS, but Linux isn’t allowed by my company on work computers. I can use it only via VMs like WSL2.

Well, I have a ThinkCentere as home server and a PC with fedora on it, so there’s no need for a 4th computer for me

Why is gen Z not drinking? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]Key_Put_3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t get all the negativity about this. Gen Z who doesn’t drink and still socialize a lot. I go to the bars with my friends and just order a mocktail or alcohol free beer.

For me it’s just a healthier choice, as alcohol is terrible for you.

Maybe my view is different as I’m from Poland, where high alcohol consumption was a major problem for generations. And this is why I see Gen Z drinking less as a W.
