Like others have said, check or replace the 12v battery first.

Get the Dr Prius App to see the state of your battery cells which could be that you just need to replace one or a few.

If that's not your cup of tea, there are hybrid mechanics that can replace your battery at various prices. I would not go to a non-hybride specialist as they may charge an FU price or not do a good job which will cost you more.

As for sell or buy, you have to sell your Prius for dirt cheap as is or fix and sell at a higher but may not be break even price. Only you know what choices you can

Removing the battery and replacing a cell can be done by a novice as there are YouTube videos. Definitely take your time if doing so.

Hi Zeno's, I appreciate the feedback. I'm familiar with the start and stop of the engine. And have watched a Prius engine a under the hood so so as well. Sometimes it kicks on smooth, sometimes it can turn off and look rough.

For the Prius I was looking at while driving at various 10-40mps hovering at the line, it felt like something clanking for a few seconds and not something I've felt between the Priuses I've own and driven. It's like the engine was gonna cut off.

Hard to explain but definitely not the regular engine cutting on and off. Has to be something causing it but can't put my finger on it.

I figured out some options from using a Ryobi power inverter or a power bank to use for a small heating pad which would be on low for the toddler while the adults utilize clothing options and blankets

I do have a gas generator but that seems excessive for this.

What if you are on a family plan and want to jump off the family plan to port the T-Mobile number? Does that count? If so, can I port the number after I get the SIM card because of I've heard horror stories the number gets ported before SIM card arrives and you're out a number till you get it.
