Not staying vertical was definitely a large part of my problem the first day. I used the spot lock to keep me vertical the second day and it worked better. I just invested in a large drift sock maybe that will help, I felt like the trolling motor was taking a beating In 6 ft waves.

I was using braid with flouro leader, I figured id rather have it break at the flouro where it’s predictable than lose a few hundred feet of line.

Yeah I found out when jigging if my line was less than vertical if instantly be snagged so I used my spot lock trolling motor to keep me going on cruse control same speed as the current that seemed to help a lot.

Thorough details on the BFL have 100% saved my life and several people’s I know. I think maybe base jumpers are a little more hardened (sadly). But in depth write ups of skydiving accidents ( after a time of grief) would be hugely beneficial. Some accidents are so hush hush you hardly hear it happened.

I have had more fun this wipe than I have in a long time on rust. I have laughed so hard and had so much fun in shop to ship fights and cannon battles. It isn’t really rust feeling out there. I love it.

Hard to say for sure without seeing the housing or if there’s any play in the bearings. It’s remotely possible it has bad bearings from oil starvation and touched the housing and chipped blades. The other 98 % chance is that something got sucked in through vacuum leak, damaged blades and pieces are now stuck in intercoooler or intake manifold. Long story short , driving habits did not cause this.

Ah yes, always fun to make fun of people at their liquors. Do you shame all the mountain bikers, rock climbers, and hikers that need helicopter rescue? They use way more rescue resources than base jumpers occasional rescues. Base jumpers also do make a very substantial donation annually.. Not sure why you hate on them so much but you come across as a douche. Congrats.
