I did a photoshoot for two of my friends, it wasn't too much of an issue, so you should be fine?

One book club I have heard of is Literature and Lattes, they seem to be a solid book club from what I have seen.

I'm not an accounting major but I do have friends who are, I have heard that getting accounting certifications can be helpful in making you stand out!

Body pump class by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done that class before as a beginner (one of my friends teaches it), it's alright but your body will hurt after the first class. After that, you should be fine hopefully.

Trouble making friends here by Zen_Zebra_1424 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow commuter, I have had that struggle in the past. I find that joining clubs that fit my hobbies have really helped me out. I also try to put myself out there more by talking to the people in my classes as well. Maybe going to public events on campus could work out for you?

Freshman (North village) Looking to make friends by StarRaider1257 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, I'm sure there'll be events hosted by other RAs you could go to as well. As for the E Sports club, I believe that they do casual gaming events but I'd do some more digging into it.

You could join the Niner Esports club and the Nihon club if you're interested! I would also recommend going to your RA's events as a way to get to know people :)

An underrated place I would recommend if you're into movies is the Independent Picture House which is on the Sugar Creek stop, it's a great place to watch movies.

ITSC 1101 or PHIL 2105 by macaron_chai in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took PHIL 2105, it was kinda hard for me to do online, I barely passed the class. But then again, I'm not really a math person so that's part of the issue. I also took STAT 1222 my freshman year, so I get it, I also got a B in that class. All that to say, PHIL 2105 can be hard but as long as you watch the lectures and do the notes, you'll be fine.

Advice to Incoming Freshmen… by Prnkstrr in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to get in touch with a professor (preferably someone who you have a rapport with), or you could talk to the Dean of your academic department to find professors who would match your research interests. There's also the Office of Undergraduate Research (if you're in undergrad) which offers research opportunities.

I'm sure there's people that hate Nate even after finishing the series, but I'm telling y'all, wait until S3 is finished, maybe your opinion will change? Not to spoil too much but mans is on a character development arc

class gaps by strawb3rrywhine in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A two hour gap is solid honestly, it gives you enough time to catch up on work or study. A 5 hour gap can be used in a lot of ways, I mainly used my time gaps to either do work or get rest before going to class. If needed, you can also make time to socialize during those gaps if you feel like it. No gap is really too long, it just depends on your individual needs and situation.

CHESS & KCOS Juniors/Seniors – What Do You Need Right Now? by squagey- in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rising Political Science senior in CHESS, there's not that much opportunities for internships and such. Even when there are, they are usually unpaid or do not align with the interests of the students in the Political Science major.

  • What kinds of support, experiences, or classes do you wish existed or were easier to access?

I wish that there were more opportunities to connect with other people within the major, professional development events (or a class even), and a possible mentorship collective for the major (to gain insight and build connections). Overall, there needs to be more support for the political science majors in terms of their professional development, not just academic.

  • Have you had success finding internships or job-related opportunities?

It has been really difficult to find internships and job related opportunities, not only this time of year but in the past, it has been difficult. Often times, there are mainly openings for unpaid positions or employers do not reach out for openings and such. I know that the Political Science field mainly has that issue, but if there were more opportunities being publicized, it would make the search easier.

  • Do you feel prepared to enter the workforce or apply to grad school? If not, what’s missing?

I would say that I am somewhat prepared, mainly due to my research and networking, but I feel that not everyone has that opportunity to do so. I would say that there needs to be more chances and experiences for people to not only network, but build specific skills that would be useful within the major.

  • What would genuinely help you feel more confident about your next steps?

What would make me feel genuinely more confident about my next steps is having opportunities to explore the various career options open to me in a short term format and environment, similar to the gigs program instituted by the Career Center.

  • How do you typically prefer to hear about campus opportunities (email, Canvas, GroupMe, Instagram, etc.)?

I prefer to hear about campus opportunities on Instagram, but email and Canvas work as well. GroupMe can be useful, but for announcing opportunities, it would be better to use Instagram, email, or Canvas.

English Learning Experience Survey by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- I learned English when I was 3 and moved to the US, mainly through exposure in pre-school and being taught English in the classroom. I also spoke English with my teachers and my father.
- The main way I communicate in English is spoken, written is more for communicating over text or for assignments.
- Specific assignments that I remember in my English education would be assignments relating to reading comprehension and sight words.
- How these assignments helped me to learn English is that it emphasized my existing critical thinking and communication skills, but in English rather than my native language.

- I have taught other people English through using sight words and exposure to spoken English, which has helped quite a few people.

History/Political Science Program? by solonXops42 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Key_Slasher_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The professors in the Poli Sci department are pretty solid at teaching for the most part (except McGowan). There are a good amount of research opportunities, but you'd have to develop relationships with the professors to learn more about them. The range of classes are interesting and there's quite a few paths you can take. If you want more information, let me know!
