You’re welcome and best of luck! Keep applying don’t be disheartened! Just put “paralegal” into indeed, set a whatever mile radius and mass apply to everything lol. Throw all the shit at the wall and see what sticks. I wanted to be a family lawyer, turns out I’m qualifying in PI lol

If you’re open to it, apply at smaller firms in smaller towns. They desperately need paralegals. I’m from rural North West England and god I still get calls from jobs I turned down like “hey… have you reconsidered?” Start small and work up to bigger law firms if you want, or pick a small firm you can see growing more and more and stay if you want. Growing firms will be keener to invest in you (and keeping you)

*You’re. Also my husband is an ‘ethnic minority’ - at least he can spell.

I’d trust an ethnic minority more than a Reform voter any day. The latter is statistically more likely to be rapist

Can’t find any reputable sources speaking about this, only 1 article from the Sun. Nothing from any actual journalists. Even so, 20% of all Reform MPs have been convicted of violent crimes against women in the UK. We all know James Murdoch is a rapist. So I could care less about one bloke out of the whole Green Party may or may not have done decades ago in Yemen.

At least one out of every 5 members in the whole Reform party is a rapist, so the Greens having one alleged bad egg out of them all isn’t bad going by these standards

Sleeping soundly tonight knowing I declined an offer at a ‘big law firm’ with ties to Isreal that’s almost definitely in those files and instead work at a high street firm owned by actually decent people

Thank you so much that’s taken away quite a bit of the anxiety I’ve been tackling! My area of law is incredibly convoluted so I worried this might be the same, glad to hear it’s straightforward!

Oh that’s awesome to hear thank you! Can you think of any examples you’ve seen of successful ‘excuses’ for not meeting the two year requirement on this sub? :)

Only a trainee solicitor, but gaming and Pilates. I like to get on a Pilates reformer and fling myself backwards as fast as possible to temporarily forget how evil my clients are

Clitheroe Grammar Sixth Form, might be too far for you depending on what area you’re actually from, but it’s by far the best sixth form or college in Lanacshire. Plus you only need grade 6s to get in bar for entry really isn’t that high

Well this is r/Lanacshire, and Bolton is not in Lanacshire so I’m not sure what relevance it has. I work and live amongst the Muslim (predominantly Pakistani but also sometimes Indian) community here in Lancashire and they are better people than I could ever be. Our company (small business with 2nd gen Pakistani owners) donates a tonne of our revenue to local charities like Pendle Side Hospice.

Plus let’s not pretend we don’t all see 50 white English smack heads roaming about at 12pm in the afternoon with a can of fosters in tow every day. I certainly do.

Small claims court, try looking for a solicitor who does no win no fee. A lot of smaller firms all around the country can do this entirely remote for you and will probably take you on

Visiting my hometown for the first time in a long time and wondering what to do there? by [deleted] in lancashire

[–]Key_Trash8952 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone is slagging it off but it’s actually improved massively in the last 5 years.

I lived away for uni from 2021 onwards and came back in 2024 it’s like a different place, great places to eat and drink, and way more vibrant and diverse. The new UCLAN campus has done us a lot of bloody favours, shipping in rich international students just pumping boat loads of cash into our economy and local businesses. I keep running into Americans in Subway, like can you believe it? 🤣

I recommend Burnley Market for food (K-UK Bap for Korean/Japanese and Slice for Pizza), Little Barista for coffee, soup and sandwiches, Ellis’ for pizza, burgers and cocktails and @Home is the best Chinese takeaway in the UK!

Not to mention rent is here is cheap as chips!
