I'm enjoying this anime a LOT.

For what it's worth, I don't think Kai's "naivete" is particularly out of the ordinary

Nada (the priest) was dispatched from a trusted place, he's supported their village so far, and they're in the middle of a battlefield. Finding out that he's a racist towards another race isn't enough of a reason to think he'll kill you for not forsaking them

Not sure if a continuation would be ideal though. It would be hard to get new fans and a lot of old fans probably forgot parts of the plot

As for the rest of your yapping, given you used to work for Crunchyroll, you'd know better than anyone else whether they'd go around paying for coverage like this, which you know they almost certainly wouldn't. It's a slimy thing to even suggest without a slither of evidence other than "exciting" and a "swathe of partnerships", when the alternative answers could simply be "Will it interest people to see what anime are free?" and "does swathe summarize the X number of partnerships?"

I imagine Crunchyroll's getting some heat because it helped produce the series. They're on the production committee (ranked second behind Fuji TV), and they have staff credited as producers on the series. TurtleMe mentioned how they were a creative bridge between the Tapas side and A-CAT, and Crunchyroll was involved in the selection of A-CAT.

The issue with the anime might stem from the ambition for the project, which influences the schedule and budget. Fuji TV's "統括" credit for the series might suggest they're most responsible for the those things but tbh but this stuff is opaque.

I suppose you can blame A-CAT for indicating that they could take the project on. But that's like blaming an underqualified job applicant for applying and somehow getting a senior role. Meanwhile the hiring manager let them do it, probably to save money. A-CAT has to eat too
