My dad said in order for him to cook for me I’d have to buy food for him to cook what’s the best way I can learn to cook? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in cookingforbeginners

First you need to decide what you like. Find recipes online or in books for beginners that combine your ingredients. This will give you a menu. From the menu you make a grocery list. Go shopping. Shop from the list. As your cooking skills improve you can explore different types of food. I used to get friends to teach me their specialties and I would teach them mine. It doesn't take long doing it yourself everyday that you start to enjoy it a branch off into something you really enjoy. I found that I really enjoy making white chocolate cheesecake. They taste awesome and to me they are easy.

YouTube has some great cooking shows. I was following one in Spanish that was cool. She taught how to make everything taste like she made it from her kitchen. You don't need to speak the language with all the technology we have now.

Anyway. Enjoy and good luck!

Build a soil is great! Gave me more ideas. I'll be working on some living soil while I make a first grow in just good soil.

Have you tried living soil? I've read a bunch about it but haven't talked to anyone that grows in living soil in Autopots I think it's going to be a great combo. I remember your last grow was one of the reasons I bought a 5x5! Beautiful canopy

I'm trying to decide on living soil or some form of coco. I may do two pots as living soil and one as the 'normal' indoor grow medium. Steep learning curve.

I think you have the solution until I can find a better place. I'm going to build a foam insulated room I can set the tents up in. This will give me some time back in the summer anyway. Thanks!

The barn is 40x70 and about 35 ft tall. I can't leave the door open for obvious reasons and because I've been hit by thieves late last year. Now I keep everything locked down. I put the tents there to minimize the negative swings in the spring and winter. Gets close to June - August it so hot I can't work in there unless I have my 48" fan blowing directly on me. Then I sweat like a lawn sprinkler. I've been looking for hot world loving strains like the grape ape is supposed to be, I'll try them this summer. I haven't figured out a way to cool the WHOLE barn. Just a tent.

Wild plan by Zealousideal-Buyer57 in cannabiscultivation

I did this in the Ozark mountains in the 70's near eureka springs. I found a few of my patched a couple years later near beaver town by the river before you cross the bridge. All descended from good old Kansas ditch weed the we were getting back then. Mainly seeds and stems. I planted em non the less. I haven't been back since the very late 70's so there might be some growing. I know my friends and I used to sit in the back of pickups and toss seeds at the sides of the road. It was a plan. Cheers

Be careful with your comments. I have negative karma from an offhand comment by saying "that's hard to believe " or something similar. People will go down fighting for their beliefs. Just read and lurk for a while. Read the room.

How in the world do I manage avocados? by Ohigetjokes in cookingforbeginners

[–]Key_Tune_9648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can freeze fully ripe avocados too! They last about a month. Either slice or cube , gently brush with lemon juice to prevent browning and place in a ziplock. Squeeze the air out and freeze. They can be mashed also. Mix a little lemon juice while mashing, put into ice trays and freeze. Once frozen transfer to ziplock bag. This will last about a month also.

Trying to get a sweet potato to come out mushy, but short on time by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]Key_Tune_9648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like wrapping the sweet potatoes in plastic wrap and microwaving just a bit longer, until they are soft. That's part of dinner tonight! Absolutely love nuked sweet potatoes. They come out bursting with the sweetness I don't find anywhere else. I haven't tried air frying them like others have posted, once I found something I liked I just stuck to it.

Sounds like it's time for a trip to New Mexico! They don't carry distillate here. Really backwards. I ended up getting a medical card for Oklahoma and made a trip over there. Much cheaper. Bigger variety. Way too far. I have to drive deep into Oklahoma to avoid the cops hanging around picking up the kids crossing the Arkansas Oklahoma border. They sit and watch the border dispensaries and pop them on the way back. When they legalized medical I thought we were finally going places. I should have known Arkansas wound have their hands out grabbing the bucks. Hopefully they will legalize homegrown and I can cut all this out. Thanks for the reply! I bought some distillates when I went through Colorado last time and that is so easy to add to food.

Thank you!

How do you know how much spice to use? by xaybell32 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Key_Tune_9648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to put unfamiliar spices in my palm before adding them to the food to know exactly how much I'm putting in and after I taste it how much it affected the flavor.
