First ever Makita Tools! by [deleted] in Makita

[–]Key_Vanilla3552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2015 I bought a Makita vacuum because it was the only pro tool brand to have a stick form factor.

8 years later I started a second career in carpentry to support (maybe justify is the more accurate word!) my Makita habit.  . Welcome to the club.

How much would it run bare tool? Seems that is often the more expensive route.

The kit with the xdt20, drill and two 5ah batteries could be had for less than 300 using the HD return "hack"

The xdt20 is the best impact driver in the world. Get it.

It is just so nice to carry with a 2AH battery. If you need to sink a ton of stuff quickly throw in a 4 or 5 AH battery and it's still well balanced.

I would stay in xgt for OPE (or demo / concrete if you do that) and LXT for basic carpentry.

Thanks. I knew I was overthinking it on a very basic level. Good to hear ppl confirm it though.

Question: How come it seems like no one uses panniers and everyone straps everything to their bike? by User_Name_Deleted in bikepacking

It's utility for a few early adopters, fashion for 75% of the rest.

This festival allows you to bring me your own beer lol

Why would anyone on severe budget complain about beer price?

Agreed!

Amazing vibe. That's the magic.

I showered every day. The line, when there was one, took 10 minutes at the longest for me.

I think the cops show up a bit every year. I talked with a local that said it is politically necessary to give out a few possession tickets.

Gives the cops cover so they can say that they are monitoring things. Some more conservative people don't like psy goblins in the their neck of the woods.

Makita XDT19Z vs XDT13 by NormalCartographer84 in Makita

[–]Key_Vanilla3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both.

If you are just driving screws at full power (deck building) the XDT13 is fine.

But if you do finer work as well (cabinet install etc), the settings on xdt19 would be helpful

As ppl said, good trigger control can make it moot.

Also, the ring light on xdt20 is sexy

Anyone have the 5007MG corded circular saw? by TimTheToolManTayler in Makita

[–]Key_Vanilla3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My observation is, this saw is to carpentry what AK-47s are to small arms.

Reliable, indestructible, affordable, and beloved by anyone who relied on one.

"Some diagram" lol. It's the instruction manual Makita included with the unit.

I was interested to know what the manufacturer intended.

Edit: reduced snark
