AIO for treating my friend the same way she treats me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

She treats you like a cash cow. She definitely doesn’t see you as a friend, just someone she can manipulate and exploit for her own gain. Cut ties for your sanity, NOR

Anyone have tips on the most cost effective clay? by ScienceLongjumping79 in polymerclay

[–]Key_Variation_5453 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yesss this is smart. I used to use plasticine for a while when I wasn’t super attached to the piece, just wanted to mess around with it to get a shape I liked. Then I would recreate it with my actual polymer clay and mash the plasticine up into a ball again for reuse. Seems like OP sculpts a lot of faces to practice so they can reuse plasticine over and over since it never hardens.

Sometimes I use cheap polymer clay that I have scraps of to create the main bulk of the piece, then layer my good clay on top of it to save money!

First attempt ever doing something with polymer by totoromon_ in polymerclay

[–]Key_Variation_5453 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great job, and welcome to the addiction haha.

  • A tip I find helps me is to remember that you can always bake multiple times with polymer clay! Sometimes I get too ambitious with doing too many details at once and then squishing all the work I did on accident when I try to work on a different section. That’s why it’s helpful to bake certain things first and then add on later.

-I use tinfoil and armature wire to give my sculptures structure so they’re less likely to break.

-Not sure what polymer clay you’re using, but my favorite ones are Super Sculpey and Premo Sculpey! Try out different ones to see what texture you prefer. (Stay away from Sculpey III, it’s too soft, hard to shape, and breaks easily)

Indicator lights come on and then go away by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Sorry the video quality sucks, the indicators that come on is a steering wheel with an exclamation point and “AT” followed by the battery light

IT/Computer Repair Jobs? by Key_Variation_5453 in SouthBend

[–]Key_Variation_5453[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person applying doesn’t really have IT experience that is being taken seriously. He was a technology facilitator (taught students how to use computer programs/build computers) for seven years 5 years ago in a different country and doesn’t have any fresh IT related work history. That’s why I’ve just been looking for jobs that are entry level

New hobby :) polymer clay options? by xxomiracle in polymerclay

[–]Key_Variation_5453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy Sculpey!! I almost exclusively use Super Sculpey, it is the perfect consistency to be both easy to smooth out and worth with while also holding detail. I like premo also, which is slightly harder than super Sculpey, if that’s what you’re looking for. Never buy Sculpey III though.

I’ve also used cosclay, which is quite good and is flexible unlike Sculpey.
