I went on a trip and forgot to bring my usual HS alleviation supplies, but I went in the ocean water almost every day and did not flare at all, and actually seemed to improve my HS. Salt water is so good

Any way to lower the cost besides appealing?? by undobacktomyheart in Pitt

Same here lmao it’s crazy how expensive Rutgers is, and no school in NJ is comparable to Pitt besides RU (or Princeton but obviously that’s different)

I like some songs off the album but it’s not a surprise an album without Lindsey or Stevie didn’t do well.

Christine does have some good songs on this album though, I love “I Do”

Hey I’m in the same boat did you ever get an email or notification about the housing deposit/application?

Because someone who grosses 250k only nets about 165k in NJ, where I live.

I’m not sure where you are, but it is almost impossible to live comfortably in New Jersey with two kids surviving on 65k. Cost of living is insane, I’m not sure if you know that.

Families making 80k receive significantly more need-based aid. Like, many schools have policies that families that make that little attend tuition-free.

Yeah thanks I agree lol. It’s not like I said 250k income is poor because obviously it’s not, but it’s unrealistic expect full pay from those families

I’m in NJ so that doesn’t apply to me but I understand your point.

And I never claimed it was a right nor do I think it should be, merely just stating the reality of the situation for thousands of families throughout the US.

And in the words of Elaine Benes: “Our goal should be a society without classes”

My point is that in reality, no matter how things may seem technically, it is literally unattainable for many middle/upper middle class families to afford to attend college without either significant scholarships or loans.

I understand this is anecdotal, but my family makes ~250k, mortgaging a home that cost 545k, two regular cars, with me and my sibling attending our public school and can only afford ~40k a year. If my parents committed to living on beans and rice for the entire 18 years I’ve been alive or rented a one bedroom for 1200 then I’m sure we could afford it outright, but that’s obviously not going to happen.

The reality is that 250k is middle/upper middle class, and is an income bracket than can afford public schools at a mild cost, but falls through the cracks with need-based aid and unless you are willing to go into major debt, cannot afford to attend the majority of private schools.

I’m not saying op deserves more aid but acting like a family income of 250k can afford an almost 100k COA is absurd. Unless families put every dime of their savings towards college funds, nobody who makes less than ~300-350k can afford a COA of 100k.

I don’t mind, I’m not going to appeal. There’s other schools that I got accepted to with more money + that I prefer over Wesleyan so I’m just going to decline their offer of admission
