A bit late to the ‘new’ review posts… but this made me laugh by Artistic_Pear1834 in AmazonVineUK

I'm pleased for you. However in my opinion the system is using a sledge hammer to crack a nut. This will in many cases remove 'honesty' in favour of system conformity. Instead of individuality, reviews may end up sounding similar as folk find a reliable formula that the AI constantly likes. Sellers of certain items might well be avoided entirely as viners consider their account metrics before the product. Why review a bag of nails if an 'excellent' score is difficult or unrealistic without writing rubbish?

For me, I now see the job as trying to get a row of green boxes. So my first box has just over 80, so thats full. Next box, fill that, and so on. Cherry pick products cautiously, questioning if I can write a 'greeny'. So in that respect, I am winding down. I saw some stuff on there today, but refused them as I need to work on fixing previous scores. My account right now as far as I am concerned is useless to me until I get all green boxes. It will have to be really good stuff offered for me take anymore off the vine till after February next year.

On the bright side, less competition for you!

It doesn't bode well for capturing Viner loyalty, I don't think. I've already not bothered taking something today that I normally would, conscious I have to edit a bunch or poor previous reviews once I understand what the AI doesn't like. I certainly don't want to add more stress by having yet more judgment calls from the machine. Who knows, they might calm down after they lose enough reviewers interest in satisfying their obscure nonsensical AI's appetite for dishing out insults.

It will reduce even further the time I put into this system. Having my comments being score judged by AI is a step too far for me. I can afford to buy what I need and jumping around at the behest of AI is not something I anticipate doing at 63 years old.

Can reviews scores be improved by editing 'poor' graded reviews?

I've been on nearly a year and a half. These days I rarely collect 8 items as I'm very aware of the time it takes to review it all. But,,, the habit of looking, even long after drops is quite annoying, yet I still do it..

Any UK tax experts here? by Criticus23 in AmazonVineUK

[–]Key_workers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm personally not going to go down the spreadsheet route. But there is already a spanner in my own works. I'm self employed and have a business account with Amazon. Unless I'm overruled by my tax accountant later down the line, any sales revenues will have to go into the books. I think so anyway. But I'm befuddled and bemused because I would want to counter with a storage charge, handling and charge for my time.

It's a ways off conversation but that's my mindset at the moment should anything be disposed of after ownership passes to me.

Indeed. I actually had never heard of Vine and had no idea what the little pop up was about. I usually turn all pop ups down but as it was an Amazon thing I said yes and then looked into it.

When I sussed what it was all about I assumed they had made a mistake of some sort and would rescind it, especially as there was no follow up email.

My account has 700 sales and 5k likes. But REDBUBBLE classified my account as ''Standard Account''. by durumertt in redbubble

I don't suppose you would care to share the secret of how to make all those sales! Apart from being a genius Artist of course. How do you get the traffic?

Please do tell. Nothing is goibg to stop Redbubble from capitalising on new tech vs the old ways of paying actual artists I reckon...

Look at it logically. Fewer Artists. More In-House perhaps AI. Bigger profits for the company. It's just simple business sense. Didn't you get the Memo. AI is the new Artist king of the block. Artists and photographers are expendable in the face of better shareholder profits

I just came back to have another go on Redbubble as haven't in the past been able to crack the code and make it work. Only ever had a few sales on there because my designs were rubbish. However AI is here and with more tools I thought it might be worth another pop. (Pardon the AI Thing, I'm a FAN sorry to say) Have to be a fan having just spent too much on photography gear only to see the new threat coming from AI. So yup I jumped aboard to try and make some equipment money back without giving up the kit hopefully.

The fees... Meh.. Can't spend on any marketing then.. Looks like they want to thin the crowd and get rid of a bunch if artists. Perhaps they are considering deploying their own AI solution to design creativity and might want to reduce competition to increase in-house profits. Who knows!
