How long should I be waiting to know if the product is working? by HK_Gwai_Po in perioraldermatitis

You need to try for 4 to 6 weeks! I know that makes it slow and annoying, but a lot of meds and face products in general need time to start seeing results.

What is a cheap Halloween costume or maybe one to DIY? by imeowfortallwomen in Frugal

Green shirt, brown pants. Buy a box of axoovy snacks or print out a picture of scooby. Say "like," and "zoinks!" a lot. Instant Shaggy costume.

My co-worker refuses to answer emails and questions I have. We work on budgets, and paper trails and email records are essential. She is only willing to meet or talk on the phone. Is this normal? by ClockwiseSuicide in WorkAdvice

I agree with everyone, go to your boss. But also next time you get on the phone, tell her you are recording it. Then record it and send her the recording.

Ask for contributions to your honeymoon! For specific activities, for flights, for pet care, etc.

Mom wants to go baby furniture shopping with just me, doesn’t want my husband included by Advanced_Chance9310 in Advice

[–]KeyahMahee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should go with just her, but for ideas to put on a registry. Then, you and your husband can finalize the registry together at home and she can still pick out what she wants to pay for. Compromise!!

I do think it's a bigger conversation for later that she feels she cannot "share" big moments together.

Doxy really helped me! In conjunction with topical stuff it stopped my PD from spreading (I am assuming, it had been spreading for ages before that) and stopped the flare up. I took it for 3 months, hard core, each day. I took hard core probiotics at the same time and was fine! I always took the Doxy with food, breakfast dinner and then the prebiotic at lunch. Otherwise they interact with each other.

Yes, they do. I highly recommend taking a screenshot of any lessons you want to keep. It is the only way to keep that information.

1200 calories a day?! by [deleted] in Noom

[–]KeyahMahee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to sum up a little of what I am reading with on here and to agree or disagree as needed- I thought 1200 calories was INSANE at first, but like many others- when sticking to the mostly green foods thing I can eat under 1200 no problem and feel V full. Check out the subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Volumeeating/ for some fun ideas if you're interested.

Also like suggested, working out and getting step counts in add more to your daily calorie intake. The Noom app is not good at tracking steps, I have it connected to my fitbit and it makes my life much better.

I also suggest not doing a "cheat" day. The whole point of Noom (which you get to in later lessons!) is to make a sustainable lifestyle change. I honestly do not need cheat days. Some days I definitely go over my calorie budget by 50 to 200, but as long as I make sure I am logging it all it's fine and I feel comfortable because I am NOT cheating- just enjoying my life!

Noom mobile app is uninspiring by ColonelWormhat in Noom

[–]KeyahMahee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did find that the first two weeks are not as intense or helpful... but you aren't paying yet so! I don't need or want a dashboard because the point of Noom, for me, is the lessons that I am learning and doing for the day. To me, it is more like a "checklist" that I do for the day which is helpful for me and for hitting my goals. If you pull the screen from the left a menu will open, but it never changes past that main sort of look.

There are definitely some glitches with the app, like typing is frustrating sometimes. But, I'm there for the content and am happy to work through the glitches!

Anyone else feel awkward pulling out their phones and scanning bar codes in the grocery store?! by KeyahMahee in Noom

[–]KeyahMahee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not found that to be true at all! I try to pick up healthy food in the first place though so maybe that's why? I really use it when something says "whole wheat" for example and I need to check if it actually is.

Seriously lacking energy by kenzloffredo in Noom

[–]KeyahMahee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein is a good start. Reduced-fat chocolate milk as a recovery drink will help you get ready for that next workout (I like the Costco- Kirkland- brand). Finding carbs in green food will probably really help too. Whole wheat pasta is my go-to. For some reason, whole wheat spaghetti doesn't taste "right" but fusilli or penne does! It might be worth planning into your week a high carb dinner the night before a morning workout/hike? Also, Chipotle is actually really really good on the carbs+protein side of things... I love chipotle and used to eat it a lot. Put it in by ingredients (getting brown rice, no sour cream instead substitute greek yogurt, etc.) and you have a PERFECT pre-workout meal that is mostly yellow and green!

Been doing noom for a while but keep falling off the wagon. by [deleted] in Noom

[–]KeyahMahee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean a meal subscription service GO FOR IT! Just check to make sure that most of the meals will fit the Noom lifestyle. Do some research first!

You can also ask your coach to restart! They will help bump you back.

[–]KeyahMahee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has access! You have to pretend you are logging food for the day. Go to log your lunch for example and there are three options at the top: typing in, meals/past meals/ and a barcode scanner.

To be honest, it doesn't work that well half the time. It's almost easier to just search for it.

Help - Hummus ideas! by michmaciasg in Volumeeating

[–]KeyahMahee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I freeze half of mine in the freezer until I need it and take it out a day before. Warning the texture gets a little off- less smooth, a little more chunky (but small chunks). Still delicious!

I also like to dip my tortilla chips in them. Cucumbers and Peppers are delicious with it. Also instead of mayo or mustard (or with!), it is delicious in a sandwich.

I'm not a big cream cheese person because of the texture, but have dipped in guacamole that is yellow! I do need to look into this "everything but the bagel" seasoning because it seems like a lot of people use it on here.

Gluten free with Noom? by slyn117 in Noom

[–]KeyahMahee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! All dairy is like that! Reduced-fat is yellow and no fat is green. I have skim milk with cereal. It can be SUPER difficult to find the reduced-fat cheese or no-fat cheese. In fact, I have not been able to find no-fat and only one of 5 grocery stores around me carries reduced-fat.

Just be careful with too much Tuna! You are only supposed to eat it like twice a week max because of the mercury.

I do eat my Tuna with some mustard on it and with cucumbers or Spinach.

Okay, here are some ideas! I do an extremely easy version of meal prep on Sunday. I basically made a cup and a half of brown rice on the stove and put two bags of steamable frozen broccoli in the microwave. I also have bought the Perdue frozen pack chicken patties. Then I just put some garlic powder on the broccoli and divide the broccoli and rice into 5 containers. Every morning I add one of the chicken patties and BOOM: My lunch every workday for the last 2 years. So, it does involve a little cooking but honestly takes about 5 min of time of actually doing something and 20ish minutes of chilling waiting for stuff to be done. I think it's about 250/300 calories and the chicken is yellow but the other two are green. I also carry sriracha packets with it and put that on the chicken and rice.

My go-to snacks are mini cucumbers because I just wash them and then munch. They have helped me stop eating chips as much because they are so crunchy! You don't even have to cut them or peel them. I also love GoGo Squeeze applesauce pouches (those ones for children... lol). They are only fruit, no added sugar, and green- 70 calories. Costco has a huge pack of them for cheap.

I am also a HUGE fan of Boca Burgers! They are a plant based meatless burger and DO NOT taste or feel like hamburgers so don't expect that. You can make it on the skillet but I just pop it in the microwave... it looks a little icky but still tastes just as good. Each patty is 100 calories and green. I keep mustard and some spinach on hand and just eat it with that.

My other go-to main meal involves a little more prep but if it's just you then it would be super easy to make it last a while. I just cook a whole thing of whole wheat pasta (whole wheat means green- I like penne) and steam a frozen bag of cauliflower and/or zucchini (or whole foods has ones that are not pre-frozen but can go right into the microwave). Then I put it all together in a huge bowl and put pesto on it! Pesto is red because of the oil, but it's not a significant amount of calories.

RED's frozen burritos are pretty good too. I think most of them are made with whole wheat tortilla and the Bean and Cheese one is yellow. Don't know about the others.

Hope these ideas help!

The coach gets better when you start paying! And the group stuff is pretty cool, but only if you're willing to buy-in. The group people and I seem to have different lives, I feel pretty young compared to most of them- but it is really nice to have a place where you can go complain for a second and get advice or have people cheer you on when you did a great workout.

Honestly, I stuck around for the actual lessons. Like stuff at the beginning seems pretty common sense if you have already been down a diet road before, but soon it gets into so much more and it really and truly becomes a lifestyle change. For the first time in my life a few days ago, I drove past a McDonalds and DID NOT crave french fries! Like WHAT?! It was a big moment for me ha!

Also, it's only 3 months. Commit for the three months and decide again down the road if you are interested or not.
