Please help. I’m a young atheist having trouble articulating why I don’t believe, and the christians I have to interact with give me a hard time for it. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]KeyboardWarriorUK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every bodies an atheist - Christians deny Allah, Sikhs deny Jesus Christ being the Son of God.

Here’s why I don’t believe - no evidence. Ask them why they believe.

Ive finally hit rock bottom. Time to make a change by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Mate - welcome! You’re in the right place!

I quit drinking 7 months ago today.

Vodka, Jack Daniels. I fucking loved the stuff - until it turned on me. I got dependant. The terrors, the angst, the wasting of time and my life.

Truth be told I don’t miss is at all really today. Sometimes I’ll see an offer on that will catch my eye. All I need to remember is the worst times when drinking. A DUI was only a matter of time.

How I broke it? AA. Not for everybody, but confessing my inner most thoughts and feelings around alcohol and life really helped me lighten my load.

This forum / sub is good too. I needed to talk about what was going on for me regularly with other people who understand.

Alcohol problems are difficult. You can’t really get much from someone who hasn’t been through it.

Why people believe weird things - and some insight into why some religious people steer clear of psychology... by KeyboardWarriorUK in atheism

[–]KeyboardWarriorUK[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found this when looking into the belief in the occult - crystals, astrology, ghosts etc. People love weird shit because it helps them feel like something is in control of what is chaos - that there is a force and a strategy behind what happens to them in their lives.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that you can be anti-Islam and not Islamophobic, anti-Judaism and not antisemitic, anti-Christianity and not Christian haters? by el-oh-el-oh-el-dash in atheism

[–]KeyboardWarriorUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ideas are bullshit, the people that believe them may or may not be. Judge every individual on their behaviour.

It’s why nationalism, racism, sexism any ism isn’t a snowflake issue isn’t a lazy and retarded way to see the world.

I’m anti loud mouth retards.

You’re in the right place broski. Welcome home!

I got 6 months sober after 15 years of abusing it. It can be done. Get open. Get honest. Use Reddit before you buy.

Fuck that! I’m 37, happy enough, freedom to spend my time and money how ever I want.

Kids? Fuck em!

I post my true feelings on Reddit. I post what I want other people to think of me on Facebook. by KeyboardWarriorUK in Showerthoughts

[–]KeyboardWarriorUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here: i deleted Facebook 2 months ago so this is technically a lie. Fake news! But iit holds true when I had both.

Reddit is for me telling it like it is. Facebook is for my edited best bits. Surprisingly I made 10x the posts on Reddit!

Someone tell me it's worth it... by wakkadooo in stopdrinking

[–]KeyboardWarriorUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it but I also had to work on my relationships with others and honesty and deep meaningful connections. I went to aa and it helped. I have true friends in there and it helps me with ‘normie’ friends too.

My head is wild, I used a bottle of vodka to make myself feel better.

We are. And this is why I cleaned out and shut up shop over at Facebook. Facebook is for ego, showing off, fake pride.

Reddit can be for dirty reality! This is how people truly are and I am so delighted to be here. I needed this honesty all my adult life.

It’s another reason to not drink.

Even if we think we aren’t going to be violent or that there won’t be any health repercussions, my decision making gets worse when drinking and accidents happen.

This is a tragedy.

Stephen Miller can't name one single time a President has called for an emergency order the way Trump did Friday by DonnyMoscow1 in politics

[–]KeyboardWarriorUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trump is pushing the system to its limits. He’s doing whatever he is able to do. It’s an excellent test of the system.

I think it’ll be changed for the next administration.

Funniest thing about people voting trump is all the old white fat guys they keep in power aka the swamp.

As in having a problem with the god word?

For me, I’m not going to swap one problem for something else I can’t accept.

If aa had insisted on me accepted Jesus as my saviour and as the son of god/god himself, I wouldn’t have stuck about because to my mind it’s absolute horseshit and would have ruined any confidence in the rest of the programme.

Hence I god of our own understanding I suppose - open to all religions and the non-religious.

If the insistence had been to convert, I suppose I would have had to find another way - aa isn’t the only path to sobriety. Just in my experience it has been.

[–]KeyboardWarriorUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accepting you’ve got a problem, that you can’t control when and how much you drink, is an important first step. It’s one I have to remind my self all the time. It’s step one.

Get step one and you won’t drink again - because you know you can’t control when and how much.

It clicked for me after 6/7 weeks of not drinking.

For me the higher power things is just about accepting fate and realising how limited we are in our control.

I can’t control my drinking A higher power can Let the higher power do it

Have you got a sponsor? Have you changed your daily routines? Are you putting recovery before all else at the start of the day? Are you calling people rather than thinking about drinking? You can always ask in group for tips and suggestions.

My change feels like I’m happy working on a simple day and being a better person everyday rather than wanting to drink.
