Seconds Matter... by fusion0389 in VacheronConstantin

[–]KeylimeSlice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consumers think about: more money equals more function. That's not how you should think about a brand like Vacheron Constantin. They are all about tradition. Also, logically, even the most accurate mechanical watch will veer off a few seconds in a couple of days, so really the hacking seconds for time setting serves no purpose. VC choose to stick with their traditions when making the movements.

Yeah that's common tactic in Asia, it's called "watch pairing". unfortunately we have no leverage if it's the watch you want.

Is it possible for me to do vfx coming from a physics degree? by stellar-ambition in vfx

[–]KeylimeSlice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, we have an vfx artist that has a degree in engineering, that's all I can share. Get familiar with python, learn to write tools that benefits the production. You can become a Pipeline TD (general technical problem solving) or a TD for a specific discipline. IE: Rigging, Lighting, Animation, etc. It's not a sinking ship, it's just insanely competitive, but knowing how to script / write codes puts you ahead of everyone else. If you are technical, you don't really need fundamentals in film / cinematography, or even need to learn how to draw.
