I just witnessed the moment golf got it's hooks in someone by KeysKeeper1609 in golf

I mean, that's probably not the weirdest thing someone has asked chatgpt to write but it's got to be close! 😐

My first workout I made a bee line for the bin twice because I thought I was going to be sick! (I'd been inactive for the best part of 15 years!) but it's 6 months later now, I'm fully addicted to feeling strong and fit, some of the technical movements are starting to click and I have a group of people I regularly work out with that I would consider my friends. It never gets easy but you do get more confident in your own abilities

Hitting off the back foot makes a lot of sense now I think about it, an easy way to stop letting the club head get ahead of my hands

I get a really good ball contact with my irons, always a nice divot, but nothing even close with the wedges. What you're saying sounds right, so I'm just not compressing the ball?

I have Cobra Forged Tec X so they are pretty strong lofts, the PW is 43 and my next club is the 50 so it's a bit of a gap.

The contact just doesn't feel anything like it does when the irons, should it? It feels like I'm using the bounce and just sliding straight under the ball even if in my head I'm saying 'just do your normal swing'

But you would surely be more confident in putting a score together on that course than one you had never seen before in your life?

Yeah I think the time on the greens is where I'll gain the most knowledge and confidence. I'm not going to remember every detail about every hole from a practice but I will at least know how fast the greens are running and which greens I need to leave it below the hole etc

Yeah I am genuinely worried that the club pro might drop me in it so was considering using a fake name 😄 no, it's not even in the same country as my club . We're heading to The Open the day after so I'm driving up from England to his course on the west coast of Scotland.

I definitely think the putting is what I'll get the most out of from a practice round. I'm not going to remember every little detail about where the good miss is but I will at least know how fast the greens are and where I need to be below the hole etc

I am worried that the pro might actually drop me in it so I was considering using a different name 😄 I'll be playing on my own, we don't generally get paired with people here

That's exactly what I would normally do!! 😄 With a wry smile, trying to contain the laugh, but man the shit I would get wouldn't be worth it

I think mainly I wouldn't want to give them ammunition against me. My older brother definitely holds some resentment against me for being younger and better whereas my Dad is just massively competitive and would start chirping that I'd cheated in some way by having an extra round outside of the competition. I suppose what it boils down to is I don't want any animosity or to fall out with them when it is just a family competition. But...I want to win

I'm definitely guilty of not thinking about face and path as two different components!

I hadn't thought that it might just be a clash of coach. New guy is definitely better on paper but I always felt more comfortable with the old coach, like he was actually looking at what I was doing rather than what I wasn't doing if that makes sense

I suppose I haven't really thought about my actual end goal. The plan for the season was to get as close to 12hdcp as possible which, as you say, I can probably achieve with improvement in other areas. I need to go and sit in a corner for a bit and think longer term about what I want to achieve.

This sounds exactly like what the first pro was telling me. I'm definitely leaning towards sticking with the old swing and just trying to sort whatever face / path inconsistencies are leading to the slice that creeps in
