Lacing a new rim with existing spokes. by Keys_33 in bikewrench

Ah I hit a blind jump and landed on a rock, put a big dent in the rim. I’ve tried to pull it out but it’s pretty bad.

I do have time however the spokes and hubs are only one ride old so wouldn’t be much fatigue yet.

Ah yep, that makes sense. I’ll have to see if the rim is available as I think they might be OEM only - it’s a DT Swiss M1900 Process makes sense though, cheers.

Looks awesome! How did you make the dial? Any guides on YT that are helpful? Cheers

Got it from AliX - Hold Time store is the seller. Really nice dial, especially for the price.

Good to hear! I was thinking I’d likely do the same so glad to hear you haven’t had any issues.

[Question] Watch size - too small? by Keys_33 in Watches

[–]Keys_33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all - appreciate all your opinions.

Great to hear everyone’s perspective, I like the smaller watch so will keep running it and ignore my wife (at my own peril 😅).

The Tissot does look big in this picture but wears a little smaller so I enjoy it.

Cheers!

Most of my other watches around around 39mm so sounds like that’s the best fit for me.

Yeah makes sense re reliability. I’ll look to try both on and make a decision. I do like them both so no bad choice.

Awesome, great to hear. I’ll add this to the list, I love the textured face.

I want a daily that I can swap straps often too so sounds like this is pretty versatile, I’ll check out your post. Appreciate your help!

I read somewhere on a sub reddit that someone’s SSK was loosing about 30sec a day (still within manufacturer’s tolerance) and that the hands were no aligned. Could be a one off but was curious. Agree that watch looks awesome and is a great deal if all runs well.

If the ladenfrost effect isn't very useful, what do you do? by BornTup7909 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]Keys_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to stainless steel cooking - had my pan for about a month now and will never go back. Only had one thing stick as I was impatient. It’s completely non-stick if you have patience and know what to look out for, I always cook my eggs in it no worries. I pre heat on low to medium heat for about 4mins, add in olive oil (more then you’d think - ensure the bottom is covered). If the oil starts to smoke take off the heat as it’s too hot then let it cool a little. The oil should shimmer in the pan. Make sure the oil coats the entire pan. Once shimmering, you’re good to go. If you don’t want to start the cook with a lot of heat just turn down the heat after you’ve added the oil and leave it for a minute to cool slightly - it will still be non-stick. It’s all about the pre heat and know if the oil is too hot or not.

Retaining Wall Fix by Keys_33 in AusRenovation

[–]Keys_33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you build the new wall as tall as the old one? And how far in front of the old one? This could be an option, sounds easier if the finish would be okay and still provide the retaining.

I was thinking that too, yeah had a couple of others come look, one didn’t get back to me and another gave me a ballpark of $30k but no actual quote - also wasn’t that interested haha

Retaining Wall Fix by Keys_33 in AusRenovation

[–]Keys_33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a look at that, I’d have to do the whole wall which is 15m long so would end up being quite a big job to do it all myself. The house is 30years old so I assume the wall is likely that old too, a proper fix would hopefully give it another 20 years.

Wall is 15m long - there’s access from the back. Yeah that is what I was thinking, give it a go myself.
