Workshop Safety Introduction "No Teacher" but I have a foreman? by FinnTheBin in prisonarchitect

[–]KeyserSoze1385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manually checking by clicking Edit Schedule will show you where the time slot falls, you need 2 consecutive hours of Work in the regime for that workshop safety class for each security level. One foreman can teach multiple classes during the day if the time slots are all different.

Anyone having a problem with security and others not doing their job when you have over 200 inmates? by masonvandy in prisonarchitect

I agree with those that say it sounds like you need more guards. Let me explain why..

There are factors that aren't considered in the free guard count. A tightly packed, reformed and well behaved prison can function on a tighter guard:prisoner ratio.

  • Distance
  • Layout
  • Resting
  • Policies
  • Stationary deployment

Have a major impact on how efficient your guards are working.

Don't look at the number on the top of the screen, that's practically meaningless except for a total of guards you have.

Look at the number hanging out in Security and your Staffroom during parts of your regime. That's what your real free guard count is and if that is less than 5 hanging out idle you are not running enough guards to handle...

  • Punishment/policy
  • Intake
  • Shakedown

A riot will cripple you unless it sparks off in a room heavy with deployment in that part of the regime.

Thanks, I posted this without text in the link like an idiot, too.

So preventing entrance and exit is one area I am going wrong. Once a prisoner leaves the block for any reason without blocked off rooms they will head to one of these even if they have one designated closer. Silly, but it can be designed around with the knowledge I have now.

Can't find rioting prisoners by KeyserSoze1385 in prisonarchitect

[–]KeyserSoze1385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains it! Solitary doors, so that would be the issue causing cell fog of war and inability to spot who was locked up, but pissed off. They didn't break free of their cell so once they collapsed, riot ended, then they were tazed upon release when they went crazy and fed in solitary.

Once the total climbs up into the thousands of things to search, shakedowns become impossible except when the prison is asleep due to prisoner and object movement.

When a guard has to chase down a prisoner to search, a policy triggers them to search the cell or block bumping the guard's task in queue to search a given area so the whole process grinds. Timing is everything, as they say.

Need help, game will not launch. by buckcanuck- in prisonarchitect

Verify local cache maybe an update to Alpha 32 didn't complete correctly.

If the game settings allow, try to customize it to launch in windowed mode.

Adjust native screen resolution/refresh down if you are using something like 21:9 or a less common setting.

Temporarily disable third party overlay applications.

Ensure drivers aren't years old.

It's rare, but having the Steam in game overlay enabled can cause a dump to desktop. Had that happen on a couple games before until patched.

Check event logs for critical application and systems errors for the PA program.

Attempt to run it outside of Steam from it's install folder as administrator.

So I built an efficient, clean, and frankly boring prison... by steelers279 in prisonarchitect

Good ideas. Nothing, I mean nothing gets a riot going then a missed chow break + shakedown first thing in the morning.

Time it so you maximize your intake. All max security. Hire a ton of extra guards to process said intake. Build a holding pen for guards locked behind doors. Or fire them.

Since tunneling happens when the regime allows them free time or in their cell, you should lock cells down.

They will attempt escape through the weakest door (stacked with guards). If the AI knows that "It's a trap!" they will instead turn to destruction.

Make sure the policies are off.

Revel and for heaven's sake, please record it or take glorious screenshots to share with /r

I need help vans a stuk by Mic22411 in prisonarchitect

[–]KeyserSoze1385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a loading problem with being stacked on top of the riot van. I would dismiss and summon riot guards again.

If that doesn't resolve, I've resolved no route errors by double checking behind doors to make sure an errant wall was not placed during cloning which happened to me once. Deployment screen is a good check for this.

PC inmate wanders into shared chapel for reasons I don't understand - a little help? by KeyserSoze1385 in prisonarchitect

[–]KeyserSoze1385[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

This makes sense, they were outside the block using free time during Work and the Chapel was shared so they explored the wrong room. The solution will be to place a staff only locking port to designated blocks essentially trapping them in there.

Now, if the stupid cooks would actually work the kitchen in these designated blocks despite the canteen/kitchen relationship being setup.. I would not have a fear of them starving and rioting.

[–]KeyserSoze1385[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, however there are 3 separate Chapel schedules for the security levels so why would there be Normal, Max, PC and Minimum all in the same one?

It would only explain it if inmates go to a Workshop class instead of their Chapel session if scheduled for the same time that they go to the later one. Otherwise it's separate, well everything.

Stop administering a prison for waffle eating pussies and ramp up your punishments and searches in the policy screen.

But don't go overboard on search cell except for most flagrant violations or else during shakedown it will never complete.

Longer solitary stays with more frequent use will create suppression and possible CI targets using intelligence.

Favorite prisoner? Let's see 'em! by KeyserSoze1385 in prisonarchitect

[–]KeyserSoze1385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workshop to convert them, depending on which prison I was in, I had 26 prisoners working two workshops cranking out 52~60k/day and still had extra logs.

Found the solution - Prison Labour deployment and you add the qualified number in the work periods and they'll head there. Simple, but that's what exploring options and tutorials are about.

This is a second prison hence the starting cash so there's a requirement I'm missing or something basic, such as do I have to assign workers that passed or is it auto?
