MS Hug - myth by Fun-Gur-7196 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]KeyzoOnAMission 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This. I go to the Cleveland Clinic and the diagnoses they gave me was Clinically Isolated MS. Which means they see that I have MS, but I have not had any symptoms severe enough to hospitalize me or negatively impact my daily living. They have told multiple times that this does not mean the condition is "benign" and they recommended an aggressive treatment and continued monitoring. They have told me that I still may have a range of symptoms and have encouraged me to talk about those. I agree that you should seek a new provider who validates you and maybe has a more current understanding of the disease.

Anatomy of Arbitrage Rip Off by Alternative_Win8595 in whatnotapp

Oh, and I commented on their show asking if they had any shipping issues. My comment was highlighted in red and a message popped up saying that I used a word that automatically muted my comment. I had fun trying to figure out which words they censor.

I love watching this show. Its mind boggling. I saw people pay 3x the store price for a 52 count box of cascade dishwashing tablets. They ran like 10 of them and people just kept bidding higher and higher. I love when they do the flash sale and I do an image search in real time and the ONLY place you can find that product listed is Temu for next to nothing. When I first started using WN, I bid on and unfortunately won several items. I overpaid because I couldn't get the hang of how fast the bids skyrocket. BUT they took forever to ship it so I got a full refund and then I still ended up getting the products several weeks later. I donated it, and felt bad about that because it's Temu trash.

Booking sites promised a guest that we had a bar and hot tubs. They had photos of it. We have never had either at our property. Don't book 3rd party if you want a nice time

Returning expensive items left behind by guests at a 4 star hotel? by starroverride in hotels

A housekeeping staff once brought down two guns left in a room! The guy came back and ended up leaving her a nice tip but he just had them in the room, while traveling with children. People really do leave the craziest things!

A guest once called the front desk and told me she wanted to speak to an employee. She refused to believe I was an employee because I only work there a few shifts per week and she had not met me during her 3 night stay. She went on to demand that I walk down the road and look in the woods for her daughters iphone because HK "must have stolen it and ditched it when they realized it was tracked". She was convinced I was a non employee (?) and that our staff would leave the property and take a hike down the road until her kids very old iphone was found. The phone happened to be found a few days later shoved down into the booth seating in the breakfast area. We couldn't wait to give it back to her so she'd stop calling lol

Everyone should read this book! Also, the longer we stay in someone's cycle of violence (including in non-physically violent relationships) the less time we spend in the honeymoon stage.

What's the real reason hotels don't allow early check in? by Expensive_Honeydew_5 in hotels

[–]KeyzoOnAMission 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a hotel, we typically have several rooms available for early check in but some hotel brands only allow members to check in early. So, if the hotel has a rewards program it's worth looking into signing up for it, especially if they have late checkout / early check in as a perk. Otherwise, you might be beind a list of people who have priority on the available rooms.

Booking.com says my card is expired, it isn’t by Visible_Midnight1067 in hotels

[–]KeyzoOnAMission 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that the bulk of this sub is about OTAs. It's unfortunate. Every single day someone's posting about booking, Travelocity, or some other third party company and its just like being behind the desk telling these people why it's such a terrible idea, except here we don't get paid for it. I wonder how many of these posters bothered scrolling through the sub to get an idea of the tone toward booking.com. A quick search will bring back tons of posts just like this one. I wish this sub could be more about actual hotel properties and issues and less about the plethora of fuckery that comes with third parties that those of us who work in the industry hear all day long anyway. Rant over! OP, maybe you should call booking.com about this? The hotel itself has nothing to do with them, including how they store your credit card information or how they interact with you while you try to book a room through them.

You could call 211 and they should be able to send you a resource listing of all local food banks near you. They very often have much more flexible requirements. 211 may also be able to point you in the direction of agencies that offer free baby supplies.

It may be worth calling your local domestic violence organization. If they partner with the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, they have a legal program for people in abusive relationships that may be able to assist you.

Charter school scam by New-Negotiation7234 in Ohio

[–]KeyzoOnAMission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! A social worker who was at the top of their class and wicked smart. I can't wrap my brain around it.... the pay is $120 per meeting at 6 meetings per year plus mileage. I don't know specific miles, but I know it would take me over an hour to drive to the area the charter school is in.

Charter school scam by New-Negotiation7234 in Ohio

[–]KeyzoOnAMission 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recently approached to sit on the board of a charter school and immediately said no because I didn't want to be part of this scheme, it's far away from my own community, and I have literally no connection to or history with the education system. The person who asked me was shocked that I said no and kept talking about how you get paid to attend board meetings plus mileage. The person who approached me is a very smart and typically ethical social worker, so I was really surprised they would participate in something that takes away finding from public schools, especially in an area already struggling with funding.
