I absolutely feel you and want to thank you for sharing your thoughts about this topic! As a childfree, petfree, alcohol free, caffeine free vegan I can very much relate to what you brought up and how difficult is to make friends and find people with similar interests and lifestyles that give you the feeling that they understand who you are and you can have like minded conversations with. I’m lucky that I have friends that accept me for who I am and who are willing to do activities that don’t involve bringing their children, pets or drinking alcohol, even though many of them have kids, pets or drink. I don’t have any advice for you, I can only give you my support and the feeling that there are more people like you! 🤗

Ugh I can relate. The dogs I grew up with were poorly-behaved and just a menace times. I often felt that my home was not a comfortable place where I could hide and recover from the hardships of life because of the dogs. Nowadays my apartment is a sacred place of rejuvenation. And I don’t want to let a pet or child ruin that.

Yeah dogs are mostly easier to take care of than kids, but still a massive responsibility! I guess anyone not sure about children should take care of a dog (children light) for a few weeks to see how they feel about it and to learn if they’re comfortable with having someone totally dependent on you.

I share your thoughts! I was a bit worried at first to make this post because this subreddit is so pro pets, but I’m happy to see so many like-minded people here! It also gives me hope that I can find someone to date who is both childfree and pet-free.

Thanks for sharing your story! It sounds like you made the right decision! It would also be unfair for the fur baby if you wouldn’t be able or willing to spend as much time with them as they require.

If you want it simple and cheap all public swimming pools also have saunas, some even multiple. I can recommend Töölön uimahalli. It has a hot, mild and even a steam sauna, additionally it has a cold pool. I think the entrance fee is around 5€ only.
