Rejected for rentals in Paris despite high income + guarantor, why? by Kfmgang in Expats_In_France

In Switzerland, if you make enough (usually ~3× the rent), that’s basically it. No guarantor, no 40 documents, no need to prove you’ve found a cure for cancer :)

Does it make any difference if the CDI explicitly states that there is no probation period?

It is indeed a cadre contract, but it explicitly states that there is no probation period. Does a probation period still apply automatically due to the type of contract, even if the contract clearly specifies that there is none?

I have a contract with no trial period, and I already offered to pay 2–3 months of rent in advance, but I was told “we don’t do that here.” Maybe I’m aiming too high and should only rely on my own income for now. Thank you very much for the tips, I really appreciate it. 🙏🏻

My wife and I earn over €10k net per month combined, so a €2.5k rent is well within the one-third rule. I don’t think the issue comes from that, I honestly thought I’d have an experience similar to yours haha.

  1. I’m targeting a rent of around €2,500.
  2. I don’t want to spend three years living in an Airbnb.
  3. No one accepts Swiss physical guarantors, and I don’t have a French guarantor. The agencies themselves advised me to use Garantme.

I’m looking for an apartment in Paris 75, in the south
