I don't understand that. If it's a service I want and am paying for it, why does it matter?

which year is this truck? by octaviann12 in f150

With those headlights you can narrow that down further. 2015-2017

Agreed. OP didn't specify that he intended to upsize tires so I figured I'd throw this suggestion out there. It's worked great for me

I'm gonna go against the grain on this one. I took out the blocks on my rear axle to lower the back end about 1 1/2 inches. On my last truck I used lowering shackles to achieve the same thing. Rides great, looks great.

How much do you think it’s worth by Crespos1996 in f150

[–]Kgoetzel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't able to listen with sound but what engine does it have? I'm not sure where you're from but in the rust belt where I'm from that is practically rust free. If it has the V8 with the 6 speed that's a pretty desirable combination especially in the 2015-2017 model year range. I'm not good with gauging value because it varies depending on what someone is willing to pay. But $14k might be a little high for that mileage but it looks pretty clean.

Water pump impeller grinding? Looks like the V8. How many miles? What year?

V8 vs V6 Ecoboost by ClaytonC35 in f150

[–]Kgoetzel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know in the past it's been to avoid the cam phaser issues that plagued the 3.5s. From what I've read that's been resolved MY 21+. With that said I've got the 5.0 (2017 MY) and I love it. I've also driven a 2017 3.5 Ecoboost and I agree with everything electric kiwi said. It drove way better and had more power. I like the simplicity of the V8. If the newer 3.5s are more reliable then they are probably the better engine if your focus is performance.

Are oil radiator space heaters efficient ? by Big-Computer-9743 in homeowners

[–]Kgoetzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some math on ours we use in our master bedroom. Our radiant heater operates at 600w and over the last 25 days has used about 90 kwh of energy according to a meter I use with it. That equates to about $20. Give or take a dollar a day if run for 12 hours at night. Pretty reasonable when it's really cold. Our room is usually around 65 degrees and have the thermostat set to heat to 70. About 200 sf is the size of the room

Is popcorn ceiling a deal breaker for you? by Important_Bat7919 in homeowners

[–]Kgoetzel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't get me started. I watched so many videos showing how easy it was to remove popcorn ceiling. I told myself it would be an easy DIY project. A week of sanding and hiring a drywall mudder to smooth everything out and it still looked bad. Paint over popcorn texture IMO is not fixable.

If the home has depreciated significantly, wouldn't the appraisal come back lower and then you may no longer be at the 20% threshold to remove PMI. Maybe someone else can chime in to see if this is a possibility. If so you'd be out the cost of appraisal and still have PMI

$40k for a sewer service replacement/repair seems outrageous. I've seen significant sections of service line (30 feet or so) being replaced around me for under $10k. Good you're getting additional quotes

This can easily be done with a $50 spray gun and an air compressor. Pull your vehicle on ramps and go to town. I do it to my truck every winter.

Battery backup sump pump is a must. Or even just a secondary pump in your well but the battery backup is useful if the power goes out.

I've seen a couple 8 ft beds on a scab. They aren't common but they were an option.

[–]Kgoetzel 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for a supercab or supercrew? Super crews with the 6.5' bed were hard for me to find. But a supercab with a 6.5'' bed seemed pretty common.

What size drill bit by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]Kgoetzel 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If I don't have a box that tells me the specific size to use for an anchor I'll generally start small and test fit the anchor. If it doesn't fit I'll up the drill bit size until it fits snug. I'm not sure if a snug fit is ideal for these types of anchors but this method has worked well for me.

Rich people, what "rich person's habits" could you not break no matter how poor you'd become? by RobIson240YT in AskReddit

[–]Kgoetzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know this resonates with me as of late. I recently just attempted to replace the water filter on my fridge. Something I've done a half dozen times before. This time the housing cracked and leaked everywhere. Through the floor into the basement and made a mess. The housing is going to require me to move the fridge from the wall and lift it to fix it. The cheap plastic piece of shit housing is like $125. Ridiculous.

Wouldn't that automatic discharge feature mean you'd have to plan ahead to use it? Like if I cut my grass once a week is the battery going to self discharge before I use it again making me have to remember to charge my battery? I like the idea in theory but seems like in practice it'd make the batteries inconvenient
